Job Description




As a Security Officer - Transit Patrol in Durham, NC, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Transportation, and more. As an unarmed Patrol Officer at a busy transportation location, you will conduct routine foot and/or vehicle patrols, stay highly visible, and help to deter security-related incidents across the property. You will monitor activity, respond to concerns, and communicate clearly with staff and visitors while delivering outstanding customer service. What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to clients by carrying out post orders, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities in a transportation location.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including medical situations, disturbances, and/or suspicious activity.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols of buildings, terminals, parking areas, loading and/or delivery zones, and perimeter areas; working environments and conditions may vary by location.
  • Monitor access points and verify identification, passes, and/or visitor credentials in accordance with site procedures.
  • Control vehicle and pedestrian traffic as needed, including directing drivers to designated areas and helping maintain orderly movement through entrances and exits.
  • Observe and report conditions that may help to deter unwanted activity, including unsecured doors, damaged fencing, blocked egress routes, and/or unauthorized persons.
  • Complete detailed activity logs, incident reports, and shift turnover notes according to Allied Universal and site requirements.
  • Use radios, phones, and/or other communication tools to coordinate with site contacts, dispatch, and responding public agencies when required.
  • Perform interior and exterior checks of doors, gates, and critical areas, and report maintenance or operational concerns to appropriate personnel.
  • Monitor cameras, alarms, and/or other site systems when assigned, and escalate concerns through the established chain of communication.
  • Provide directions and general assistance to employees, visitors, and vendors while maintaining a professional presence.
  • Participate in required training and follow Allied Universal policies related to appearance, conduct, and security-related procedures.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
