Job Description




As a Security Officer - Data Center Roving in Chesapeake, VA, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Tech/Media/Telecom, and more. As an unarmed Patrol Officer at a leading tech, media, and telecom location, you will conduct routine foot and/or vehicle patrols, remain highly visible to help discourage security-related incidents, and support access control and visitor guidance. You will document activities, respond to reports, and communicate clearly with staff and guests. What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to clients, guests, and/or employees by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols throughout office, campus, and/or technology facility areas, including interior spaces, exterior grounds, and perimeter routes; working conditions may vary by location.
  • Monitor access points, manage visitor processing, and verify credentials and/or authorizations in accordance with site-specific policies.
  • Observe and report unusual activity, hazards, and/or policy violations, and communicate findings to site contacts and Allied Universal leadership.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including medical situations, alarms, and/or disturbances, and request additional resources when needed.
  • Operate and monitor security-related systems such as video surveillance, access control, and alarm panels, and report system issues per post orders.
  • Complete detailed incident reports, patrol logs, and shift documentation, including accurate times, actions taken, and follow-up needs.
  • Support security-related screening and traffic flow at entry points, lobbies, and/or loading areas as directed by post orders.
  • Assist with building and/or campus evacuations, shelter-in-place activities, and accountability procedures as directed by site leadership and post orders.
  • Maintain a professional presence, provide directions and information, and help to deter unauthorized activity through high-visibility patrol and customer service.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Access Control/Badge Experience is preferred.
  • CPR Certification is preferred.
  • Guard Card/License is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
