Job Description




As a Security Officer - Refinery Roving Patrol in Tuscaloosa, AL, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Chemical/Petrochemical, and more. As an unarmed Patrol Officer with Allied Universal at a chemical and petrochemical location, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, conduct routine rounds, and remain highly visible to help to deter security-related incidents. You will support access control with badges and visitor processing, respond to alarms and service requests, and document observations with clear reports. What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to our clients by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies and when appropriate, emergency response activities at a chemical and/or petrochemical location.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, following post orders and escalation protocols.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols of buildings, processing areas, tank farms, loading and unloading zones, and perimeter fencing as assigned.
  • Monitor access control points to help to deter unauthorized entry, verifying credentials, checking visitor authorization, and maintaining sign-in and/or badge logs per site policy.
  • Perform vehicle and/or package observation checks as directed by site procedures, documenting findings and reporting irregularities.
  • Observe for and report suspicious activity, unusual conditions, and security-related hazards, and communicate observations to site contacts and/or Allied Universal leadership.
  • Operate and monitor CCTV, alarms, radios, and other security-related systems as assigned, and complete required documentation.
  • Complete routine reports, incident reports, and shift logs with clear, factual information and timely notifications.
  • Support emergency response activities such as evacuations, shelter-in-place, and access control restrictions when directed by site leadership and/or post orders.
  • Work with site personnel, visitors, and contractors in a professional manner, providing directions, answering questions, and helping maintain orderly operations at the location.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Be 21+ years of age.
  • Access control/badge experience is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
