About The Role

Summary

The Core Systems Engineer's role is to serve as the subject matter expert for applying Jack Henry technologies to enable critical business functions, improve internal controls and securely manage bank and customer information. Drive adoption, utilization and ongoing improvements with Jack Henry Application Suite. Provide training to bank users on IT Products and Services as it relates to the Jack Henry Application Suite. The Core Application Manager is responsible for planning and coordinating the processes required for the provision of user applications, systems and integration among these applications that are necessary and beneficial for business operations in the Jack Henry Application Suite. Will apply proven communication and problem-solving skills to guide and assist the user group on issues related to the design, development, and deployment of mission-critical information in the Jack Henry Application Suite. The Core Systems Engineer will work closely with the individual banks to ensure that the current Jack Henry Applications are meeting current needs and constantly improving process and control through automation. The Core Systems Engineer will oversee the Core System Optimization process within the department. The Core Systems Engineer will work with the Data Center Manager to ensure Information Technology aligns better with the business needs of the various bank divisions. Occasionally travels to bank locations to evaluate various problems and provide solutions as related to Jack Henry applications.

The entry-rate for this position is $47.23+ / per hour (calculated for Kalispell, MT). All compensation offers are analyzed individually and take into consideration multiple factors including but not limited to geographic location, years of experience, and educational background.

Description

  • Support and maintain operational applications in design, testing and improvement of applications that form part of IT Services. Support the organization's business processes by helping to identify functional and manageability requirements for Jack Henry software. Identify skills required to support various Jack Henry applications for the business. Contact vendors for support information as necessary. Provide support for various applications, including being a liaison between the users and the vendors. Provide Tier 3 Support within the Jack Henry Application Suite. Assist in developing, implementing and maintaining policies, procedures and associated training plans for application administration and system administrators. Analyze system or application usage and plan for growth or increases in application system capacity. Work with management to help establish service level agreements with end users. Work with banks and departments to understand information and reporting needs. Conduct research on emerging products, services, protocols, and standards in support of systems software procurement and development efforts. Work closely with Data Center personnel to ensure proper functionality and availability of Jack Henry systems and applications. Be a primary and advisory team member in bank acquisition and conversion projects involving core banking and Jack Henry related systems. Perform IBM iSeries administration, including system installs, system upgrades, PTF deployment, software installation, operating system upgrades, configuration, custom development and security. Maintain and monitor replication to backup system with Centurion. Perform and coordinate Disaster Recovery test with Centurion on an annual basis. Implement iSeries technologies into core banking products. Turnover change management for JHA products. Maintain and rebuild system each year after release. Monitor for new code changes and submit change orders in Assyst. Perform or coordinate testing before promotion of code changes into production environment. Maintain all documentation for SOX and audit. Promote code changes after proper approval is received. In the case of emergencies, promote the change and then submit change orders and document appropriately.
  • Provide technical leadership to system administrators in handling Jack Henry Applications. Work on complex problems requiring significant expertise in developing methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for Jack Henry systems related to projects and initiatives. Assist in developing core system policies, practices and procedures. Successfully trains and develops employees on Jack Henry products. Holds on-going training efforts and reports on training to the Information Technology Director. Assist Data Center Manager in setting realistic goals and objectives; plans are devised to achieve those goals and progress is reviewed. Completes required Banker's Training compliance courses. Works with Data Center Manager and other IT managers to develop long term goals and benchmarks for group. Review annual release documentation and work with the bank divisions and other corporate departments to determine which features will be implemented and when. Be a key team member and advisor in core banking and Jack Henry system special projects. Participate in Jack Henry sponsored focus groups and project teams in order to provide input into the continuing development of their systems. Advise and consult in the designing and implementation of new Jack Henry and core banking related systems.
  • Translate business requirements for System Administrators and vendors to provide the proper IT alignment. Provide insight to System Administrators on all major installation and implementation phases and activities as related to Application Delivery for Jack Henry Application Suite. Utilize industry experience and benchmarks to evaluate the effectiveness of methodologies applied during the application delivery process. Influences changes in the business processes to meet business goals and objectives. Consult and advise the bank community on effective new solutions meeting both strategic and operational goals. Oversee the best practices documentation for all major activities and task. Work with banks and departments to understand information and reporting needs. Work with System Administrators and Vendors to develop data structures and reporting tools to meet reporting needs within the bank. Organize and drive process improvement projects related to core banking and Jack Henry systems. Survey bank divisions annually to ascertain satisfaction level with various Jack Henry products and services and provide feedback to Jack Henry as well as track progress toward improving satisfaction. Gather Jack Henry issues from bank divisions and work with Jack Henry and GBCI management to resolve issues in a timely manner. Ensure that the bank divisions and overall company maximize the available functionality of core banking and Jack Henry related systems. Provide guidance where automation can be applied to make core system functions and processing more efficient. Work with Banks and Corporate regarding Core System Data Analytics and ensure that reporting needs are met. Work with each of the banks and help them develop reports that would be meaningful and provide the necessary information in order to make business decisions.
  • Consult and or advise quality assurance processes to ensure all software implementations and upgrades are properly tested before being placed into production. Provide insight to system changes as requested by end users in a timely fashion through change management mechanism. Perform daily review of Assyst and Jack Henry Portal queues to ensure timely resolution of those items. Analyze applications to ensure that all systems that are deployed, meet business needs and specifications. Oversee multiple application projects which include installation and maintenance of application programs. Manage vendors to deliver business application enhancements. Organize and lead work groups to help standardize the use of Jack Henry related systems among the various bank divisions. Identify, design and implement ways to utilize core banking and Jack Henry related systems to make the organization more efficient.
  • Maintain and regularly update policies and operating procedures for assigned department or function. Implement consistent and standardized procedures and system parameters to insure adoption of best and most efficient processes. Ensure policy and procedures are being followed within workgroup. When issues, problems and incidents arise, ensure team acts with a sense of urgency to resolve the issue. Train and prep team so they know how to assess a situation and react with the appropriate intensity through problem resolution. Properly prepares for audits and examinations. Submits request list items timely, and makes team members available for auditors and examiners. Follow-up timely on remediation efforts assigned to department. Adhere to policies and procedures and makes proactive business decisions that limit the organization's financial, regulatory, legal, and reputational risks. Risk and compliance accountability in the employee's purview is strong; adverse findings in audit, compliance, regulatory, quality control, loan and other reviews are minimal. Adheres to information security policies and promotes information security within IT and among the banks. Supports the use of project management by contributing to project teams, completing assigned responsibilities by established milestone dates, and effectively communicating with the project team. Supports and promotes the use of ITIL governance processes, including incident, problem, change, release, and configuration management. Ensures that change orders are submitted for all changes made to the production environment, and that tasks are worked in a timely manner.   • Must comply with all company policies and procedures and all applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control. Additional Requirements

Travel

Up to 15% travel required: (e.g. 3.5 days/month) by automobile (as driver and passenger), commercial airlines, rental vehicles and public transportation and be able to lodge in public facilities.
