Who we are looking for:

Atkore is seeking a Director of Pre-Construction to lead the Estimating and Engineering function for our Global Mega Projects business. This hands-on leadership role reports to the President of Global Construction Services based out of Atkore's Addison, IL facility and is responsible for driving bid development and pre-construction supporting the fastest growing part of our business, delivering value for some of the world's most complex semiconductor and data-center projects globally.

This leader will partner directly with Owners, EPCs, and General Contractors to manage all aspects of the pre-construction process, including estimate development, BIM design coordination, drafting, engineering, and fabrication drawing development. Working in close collaboration with North American Construction, International operations, and Atkore's product businesses, the Director will build and lead a high-performing team that supports growth through efficient off-site fabrication from our global facilities to project sites.

The role spans the full project lifecycle-from early design and bid strategy, through pre-construction and off-site manufacturing, to on-site installation of prefabricated modules across multiple sites.

This is a fast-paced, high-visibility position offers direct exposure to some of the world's largest and most technically demanding construction programs, supporting Atkore's integrated design-to-installation delivery model.

Key Responsibilities



  • Build and lead a high performing team of Estimators, BIM, and CAD designers aligned to both commercial pursuits and operational execution.
  • Lead opportunity selection, bid strategy, and pre-construction planning, including construction methods, sourcing, and execution approach.
  • Partner with Sales, Estimating, Engineering, and Operations to develop competitive design-to-build strategies and project estimates.
  • Collaborate directly with customers and project teams to support design coordination, clash detection, and constructability resolution.
  • Drive value engineering to improve customer outcomes while simplifying manufacturing, fabrication, and installation.
  • Partner with U.S. and EU field operations to align scope, schedule, and cost expectations.
  • Lead innovation and digital advancement initiatives to enhance customer value, project execution, and new construction methods.
  • Build strong customer relationships and deliver value-based solutions aligned to client needs and Atkore's strategic growth objectives.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of the Global Mega Projects strategic plan.



What you'll bring:



  • 10+ years of Construction Engineering and Estimating leadership and Management experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering (P.E. highly preferred but not mandatory).
  • Strong communication skills to interact with our customers and internal stakeholders.
  • An Expert understanding of contemporary construction methods.
  • Technical acumen to understand our markets, methods of delivery, applications, and client needs.
  • Ability to think strategically and develop long-term goals while tactically reacting quickly to changing client needs, site conditions and team work load.
  • The desire to be a hands-on manager.
  • High energy and results driven; methodically setting goals, tasks, while both supporting and holding team accountable.
  • Expert level AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, BlueBeam, Microsoft Office.



Within 3 months, you'll:



  • Complete the Atkore immersion program, learning about the Atkore business system and how we use LEAN principles in running all aspects of our business.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the Strategic Deployment Process (SDP), our global goals and expectations for growth, as well as how your role is integral to achieving these goals.
  • Establish a working understanding of our major customer's needs, and how your office supports those needs.
  • Establish strong partnerships with our internal Project Management and Commercial teams.
  • Have successfully hired a team of 2 BIM coordinators in the US.
  • Established a working relationship with our Indian based design partner.
  • Gain an understanding of our internal systems and procedures, customer's needs and how to address those needs, learning our product, services, and overall value proposition for each vertical market.



Within 6-months, you'll:



  • Demonstrate strong command of business systems, the commercial structure, and the markets we serve while building trusted relationships with customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Lead, develop, and hold accountability for a high-performing team.
  • Lead bids from strategy through successful award while continuously improving execution of work in process.



Within 12-months, you'll:



  • Consistently deliver against monthly and quarterly growth targets while serving as a trusted advisor to customers.
  • Lead innovation, strategic initiatives, and global support efforts across the business.
  • Generate and drive original ideas that improve cost, productivity, and performance across Engineering and North American and European business segments.
