Introduction
MWRD's Internship Program offers paid internship positions. While the main focus is on wastewater management, there are opportunities to gain knowledge and practical experience in a wide range of functions in each department. Paid Interns Paid interns are limited to 119 working days per calendar year and receive $18.00 per hour. Required Documents:

Candidates are required to submit the Online Internship Application, cover letter, resume and letter of recommendation through MWRD's Online Employment Center. Questions regarding the internship program may be directed to MWRDInternships@mwrd.org. Position Title: IT Networking Intern Department: Information Technology Location: Main Office Building 100 E. Erie St. Chicago, IL. 60611 Description: The Information Technology Department of the Metropolitan Water The internship will primarily involve handson tasks related to networking and datacenter operations. A major focus will be documenting infrastructure within each IDF, MDF, and datacenter. This includes creating network diagrams using Microsoft Visio and compiling asset inventories with corresponding retirement schedules for each location. The intern will also assist with processing decommissioned equipment for disposal, including preparing items for eWaste and iBid procedures. Infrastructure slated for destruction may include, but is not limited to, tape media, outdated networking equipment, and obsolete server and SAN hardware. Candidates must be able to work at multiple locations and provide their own transportation to various MWRD facilities throughout Cook County. Minimum Qualifications and Requirements: Candidates for this position should be pursuing a career in IT with an interest in learning moreabout network, server, and storage management. Candidates must possess a driver's license and becapable of transportation to various facilities throughout Cook County. Educational Requirements: Applicants must be a current graduate or undergraduate student seeking a degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or Cybersecurity. | |
