Req ID:506116

At Alstom, we understand transport networks and what moves people. From high-speed trains, metros, monorails, and trams, to turnkey systems, services, infrastructure, signalling and digital mobility, we offer our diverse customers the broadest portfolio in the industry. Every day, more than 80 000 colleagues lead the way to greener and smarter mobility worldwide, connecting cities as we reduce carbon and replace cars.

We are seeking a candidate to serve as the traction representative at key locations supporting the commercial service and validation activities of High Speed Trains. As the local expert, you will assist train validation and commissioning & warranty teams in the USA, coordinate traction drive-related events with the Tarbes design team, and collaborate closely with the Project Engineering Manager and Traction System Engineer based in France.

  • Key Accountabilities

Troubleshooting Support

  • Serve as the primary interface between the commissioning & warranty team at the depot and the Traction System Engineer (TrSE) in Tarbes.
  • Guide troubleshooting efforts by analyzing data from control electronics, such as event logs and perturbographs, to identify failed components.
  • Ensure components are only removed when necessary and for valid reasons.
  • Conduct measurements on the train (using perturbographs or instrumentation) as needed to investigate failures or confirm issue resolution.
  • Promote use of the troubleshooting guide and contribute suggestions for its improvement.

Train Validation Support

  • Assist Train Validation teams (excluding Tarbes personnel) with issues related to the traction drive.
  • Utilize all available investigation tools to determine whether issues are internal or external to the traction drive.
  • Prepare and deliver a daily report to the Project Engineering Manager (PrEM) and Traction System Engineer (TrSE).

Event Analysis

  • Analyze event logs collected by the on-board control electronics using the TrainTracer tool.
  • Identify recurring anomalies through Pareto analysis of traction drive faults.
  • Perform statistical analysis to determine conditions under which faults occur, guiding further investigations.

Perturbographs / Traces

  • Deploy perturbographs as defined by the TrSE to capture contextual data (e.g., voltage, current, speed) based on predefined trigger criteria.
  • Monitor and track deployment across the fleet by maintaining an up-to-date follow-up file.
  • Produce an analysis report for each perturbograph trace collected.

  • Educational Requirements

  • Master's degree in electrical engineering or power electronics.

Experience

  • Demonstrate autonomy in environments characterised by numerous uncertainties, such as train availability and coordination with local personnel.
  • To perform tasks with diligence and systematic organization to ensure complete traceability.
  • Maintain focus on factual information.
  • While prior experience with rolling stock is appreciated, it is not a requirement.
  • Languages: French, English.

You don't need to be a train enthusiast to thrive with us. We guarantee that when you step onto one of our trains with your friends or family, you'll be proud. If you're up for the challenge, we'd love to hear from you!
