Summary:

In this role, you will serve as a senior leader and subject-matter expert within Vizient's Pharmacy Enterprise Solutions team. This role is responsible for leading high-impact consulting engagements, advising executive-level pharmacy and health system leaders, and advancing Vizient's pharmacy strategy across cost management, clinical optimization, medication use, and enterprise pharmacy transformation. The Associate Vice-President acts as a trusted advisor to member organizations, translates complex data into actionable insights, and partners closely with internal Vizient teams to deliver innovative, measurable value to clients.

Responsibilities:

Client Advisory & Consulting Leadership

  • Lead complex pharmacy consulting engagements for academic medical centers, health systems, and integrated delivery networks.

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to C-suite executives, pharmacy executives, and clinical leaders.

  • Provide strategic guidance on pharmacy operations, drug spend management, formulary strategy, clinical pharmacy services, specialty pharmacy, and regulatory compliance.

  • Deliver executive-level presentations, insights, and recommendations grounded in data and best practices.

Thought Leadership & Strategy

  • Contribute to the development of Vizient's pharmacy consulting strategy and service offerings.

  • Stay ahead of industry trends including drug pricing dynamics, biosimilars, specialty pharmacy, site-of-care shifts, and value-based care.

  • Develop thought leadership content such as white papers, benchmarking insights, webinars, and conference presentations.

Data-Driven Insights

  • Leverage Vizient analytics, benchmarking tools, and external data sources to identify opportunities for performance improvement.

  • Translate complex data into clear, compelling narratives and recommendations for executive audiences.

  • Partner with analytics, research, and product teams to enhance pharmacy-related tools and insights.

Collaboration & Business Development

  • Set the strategic direction for the development and growth of Vizient's pharmacy clients.

  • Drive program growth through the establishment of new pharmacy client networks , expansion of membership within existing client networks, and close collaboration with sales, account management, and solution leaders.

  • Oversight for P&L of client pharmacy networks and overall satisfaction of all Rx Networks.

  • Lead proposal development, client pursuits, and solution design, with full responsibility for all RFPs, SOWs, and contract amendments for new and existing pharmacy clients.

  • Attend Sales presentations and board meeting presentations.

  • Mentor and support consulting team members, providing guidance on engagement delivery and professional development.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required; PharmD, MBA, MPH, or related advanced degree strongly preferred.

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in health system pharmacy leadership, pharmacy consulting, or a related healthcare advisory role required.

  • Deep expertise in health system pharmacy operations, clinical pharmacy practice, and drug spend management required.

  • Proven experience working with senior executives and leading complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives required.

  • Strong analytical, presentation, and executive communication skills required.

  • Prior consulting experience with large health systems or academic medical centers preferred.

  • Experience leveraging healthcare data and benchmarking to drive strategic decisions preferred.

  • Demonstrated thought leadership within pharmacy or healthcare (speaking, publishing, or industry involvement) desired.

  • Familiarity with Vizient analytics, contracting, or member-driven solutions desired.

Estimated Hiring Range:

At Vizient, we consider skills, experience, and organizational needs in our compensation approach. Geographic factors may adjust the range estimate and hires typically fall below the top range. Compensation decisions are tailored to individual circumstances. The current salary range for this role is $156,500.00 to $290,100.00.

This position is also incentive eligible.
