Lead Carrier Sales

Summary

The Carrier Sales Lead is responsible for managing a book with gross revenue exceeding $5MM annually through individual contributions while leading and developing a team of Carrier Sales and/or Carrier Operations Reps. This position ensures that assigned freight is serviced well though reporting, leveraging market intelligence and effectively developing and utilizing our carrier base.

Primary Duties

* Maintains reliable communications with sales team regarding changes in shipper pick-up, customer

delivery schedules and potential service failures

* Serves as an escalation point for service issues and inter-department conflicts

* Utilizes sharp negotiation skills to ensure GCS provides the most cost-effective logistics solutions

* Identifies operational weaknesses and designs corrective actions to implement

* Develops and manages a carrier database

* Leads a team to provide outstanding customer service; including performance appraisals,

interviewing, training, and goal setting

Minimum Requirements

Experience

* Previous experience with full truckload spot and contracted markets required

* PC literate with experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

* Travels up to 10%

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills

* Organizational and scheduling skills

* Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and sensitivity

* Ability to work well independently, occasionally with minimal supervision, and as part of a team

* Ability to consistently follow existing processes, develop new processes, and maintain required

standards, and work with the team to improve them

* Strong negotiation skills
