DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will learn about and participate in communications functions for both public relations efforts and digital content creation. The public relations aspect of your experience in this internship will involve learning and applying various communications strategies, working closely with the Communications Director and Deputy Director to draft written material, and assisting with staff preparations for various interviews and press events. The digital content part of this role will involve working closely with the Digital Director on all stages of the digital content life cycle. This includes developing ideas for content, strategic planning, content creation, analytics and performance management and review, and responding to constituent questions or issues.
You will help manage social media accounts, conduct research on industry trends and best practices, and track and report on social media metrics to measure the success of our social media efforts. This includes helping to monitor local and national media for issues impacting the Department. In this role, a teamwork mindset is key for effectively collaborating with internal staff, the governor's communication's office, and other commonwealth agencies to create cohesive and meaningful content that serves the needs of all people in Pennsylvania.

- Part-time college internship, beginning between late April and May through mid-August. 20 to 25 hours per week.
- Work hours are flexible within 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, to allow for class schedule.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to four days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Internship Requirements:
- You must be an active, degree-seeking student, currently pursuing a degree in Communications, Digital Multimedia, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field; and
- You must maintain at least 3/4-time enrollment status (defined as being registered for at least 9 credits during the fall semester); and
- You must be in good academic standing with a GPA of at least 3.0 or higher.
Additional Requirement:
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
