Job Summary:

The Colorado School of Public Health and the Lifecourse Epidemiology of Adiposity and Diabetes (LEAD) Center has an opening for a part-time (0.6 FTE, 24 hours per week) Research Associate with expertise in psychosocial health and implementation science.

The Research Associate is a research-faculty position in the Center, of similar scope to team faculty track faculty positions at other institutions. A Research Associate is expected to provide high-level, professional, and scientifically rigorous program implementation and evaluation methods to support core researchers in the LEAD Center and the Barbara Davis Center (BDC), both located at the Anschutz Medical Campus. They are expected to become a significant contributor in their collaborations and partnering to define and shape the research direction of the team. A person in this position works with investigators on the design and implemenation aspects of the research process, including: design of new studies, structuring translational research initiatives, program evaluation, qualitative analysis and preparation of abstracts, oral and poster presentations, and scientific manuscripts.

They will work independently with faculty and trainees to conduct research in LEAD Center longitudinal cohorts (e.g., Healthy Start, EPOCH, SEARCH, DPPOS), as well as in BDC cohorts (PROMISE, MERIT). This individual will provide the expertise and leadership in study design, study oversight, program development, implemenation, and evaluation, and manuscript preparation to assist all levels of LEAD investigators on existing and new research activities. The Research Associate will be expected to develop leadership roles in their collaborations and to advance new research projects focused on research priorities at the LEAD Center and BDC, including screening for diabetes, psychosocial health, and qualitative research methods.

Key Responsibilities:

* Work directly with principal investigators to assist with study design for new studies, and writing grant proposals

* Provide study oversight for ongoing studies, including advising on qualitative research methods.

* Take an active role in program development.

* Collaborate with other faculty and staff to design, implement and evaluate research initiatives

* Assist with manuscript and grant preparation, including systematic reviews of the literature, writing publication ready methods and results sections, and bibliography preparation.

Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located at CU Anschutz in Aurora, CO.

The LEAD Center is a groundbreaking research center that investigates and seeks to understand the developmental origins of health and disease, particularly obesity, type 1 and type 2 diabetes and the complex interplay of environmental exposures, genetic and epigenetic processes in critical developmental periods in across the lifecourse. LEAD scientists work with data from multiple human cohort studies housed within the Center (Healthy Start, Exploring Perinatal Outcomes among CHildren [EPOCH], SEARCH for Diabetes in Youth, Diabetes Prevention Program Outcome Study [DPPOS]), as well as in the context of the Environmental Influences on Child Health Outcomes (ECHO) consortium. Overarching goals of our research are to understand the causes of disease, and ultimately, translate the findings into preventive actions.

The BDC is the largest diabetes institute in the world specializing in type 1 diabetes research and care for children and adults. Over 200 clinicians, clinical researchers, basic biomedical scientists and supporting staff work at the BDC to find the most effective treatment, prevention, and cure for type 1 diabetes. The Center provides state-of-the-art diabetes care to over 7,000 children and adults with diabetes as well as inpatient care at the Children's Hospital Colorado. The dedicated Children's Diabetes Foundation has generously supported the BDC mission since 1977.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

* PhD in behavioral health, community health, social determinants of health or related field.

* 2+ years experience developing, implementing and evaluating research projects in industry and academic settings.

Preferred Qualifications:

* 2+ years experience performing qualitative analysis methodologies

* 2+ years experience in social determinants of health research

* 2+ years experience in project management

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

* Knowledge of qualitative research methods and analysis.

* Expereince in public and community health settings

* Experience submitting grants

* Experience implementating and evaluating programs

* Ability to mentor and train graduate students

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

$48,000 to $60,000 at 0.6 FTE.

The above salary range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
