Environmental Manager

Join our team as an Environmental Manager. This position has primary responsibility for managing the environmental processes for our manufacturing facility located in Chilton, WI. The Environmental Manager works with plant personnel and Corporate EHS to ensure compliance with applicable regulations (Wisconsin DNR, USEPA) and the implementation of best practices. This position manages internal environmental systems and completes required monitoring, recordkeeping, and reporting. The Environmental Manager also conducts environmental training and coaching, as necessary. Candidates for this role must be highly organized and detailed oriented, have a technical or engineering background, and be a self-motivated problem solver

Responsibilities

  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with all environmental laws and regulations. Maintain written programs to ensure they are up to date and follow Corporate models. Manage environmental permits and ensure proper completion of records and reports. Coordinate environmental related sampling and laboratory testing as required. Inspect property, equipment, and work practices for compliance with regulatory and insurance carrier standards.
  • Training: Educate employees on the regulatory standards applicable to the facility. Instruct all employees on internal EHS policy and procedures. Ensure required environmental training has been identified and completed for new and existing employees.
  • Risk Assessment: Ensure all environmental aspects have appropriate risk assessments completed using Environmental Failure Modes & Effect Analysis (EFMEA). Implement appropriate measures to minimize environmental impacts.
  • Communication: Monitor and communicate performance toward company goals for the environment and sustainability. Interface with external regulatory contacts (Federal, State, and Local) as necessary.
  • Third Party Management: Oversee and direct third-party environmental consultant. Responsible for vendor selection, contract management, and relationships.
  • Incident Investigation: Oversee incident investigation process to identify root causes. Ensure proper documentation of findings and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Other duties as assigned

Desired Experience

  • Engineering or technical background (chemistry or environmental focus)
  • Must exhibit strong leadership and management skills
  • Must possess strong organization and record keeping skills
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of company personnel
  • Able to present material to groups
  • Strong MS Office knowledge
  • On boarding new employees with environmental requirements
  • 3 - 5 years of relevant experience
