Patent Agent (Chicago)

We are seeking a Patent Agent with 4+years' experience to support our Intellectual Property team in our Chicago office. All Taft employees operate under a "Client First" philosophy-in all things, we seek to provide exceptional services to our clients.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Prepares patent applications to be presented to the U.S. Patent Office and in patent courts, according to patent law and filing procedures.
• Reviews and analyzes patents and technical documents as part of case preparations.
• Files patent applications and registrations.
• Perform research and analysis, and provide guidance on a variety of patent and IP-related issues.

Knowledge, Abilities, Skills and Other Requirements:

• Ability to apply principals of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
• Strong technological background.
• Excellent interpersonal skills necessary to communicate with clients, attorneys and court personnel.

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in a science discipline required, Master's degree a plus.
• Must be registered to practice as a Patent Agent with the USPTO.
• Must have 4+ years of patent experience in a law firm or technology company handling patent prosecution.
• Must be registered by U.S. Patent Office.

The salary range for this position is $150,000/yr. - $185,000/yr. Actual compensation offer to candidate may vary from posted information based on work experience, education, and/or skill level.
