General Summary of Position: Reporting to the Director of Planning and FIS and in support of the Executive Director, the Senior Campus Planner is responsible for supporting the full range of campus planning functions, with an emphasis on space planning associated with institutional growth and evolving department requirements, research lab planning as well as transportation, access improvements, and a sustainable campus environment. UMass Lowell has experienced significant yearly growth in enrollment and student retention rates while also increasing its ability to attract research funding. Concurrently, the University embarked on a major capital construction program. This growth has presented challenges and opportunities to: expand facilities to accommodate academic and research goals, "right size" existing facilities, modernize older campus buildings and systems, and increase the sustainability of campus facilities and operations. The Planning, Design and Construction Department is housed within a 180+ person Facilities Management Office. Knowledge of and experience working within the Commonwealth of Massachusetts regulatory framework for planning, design and construction, including procurement laws preferred.
