Job Summary

The Health Economics Specialist will support the development of real-world evidence (RWE), health economic analyses, and internal operational insights that inform market access strategy, evidence generation, and reimbursement priorities. This role is ideal for a quantitatively strong professional who is eager to deepen expertise in RWD analytics, health economics, and business intelligence.

Reporting to the Director of Health Policy & Economics, the Specialist will work cross-functionally with National Accounts and Market Access, Medical Affairs, Sales Operations, and Reimbursement teams. Key responsibilities include supporting analyses using large administrative claims datasets and EHR data, improving internal reporting systems to generate actionable insights, and contributing to high-quality evidence packages, presentations, manuscripts, dashboards, and analytic documentation.

Essential Functions

  • Take stick of company reporting systems used across reimbursement, market access, and commercial teams to maximize insights and inform messaging.
  • Improve consistency, accuracy, and / or usability of existing internal reports.
  • Develop new dashboards, summaries, and automated analytics that enhance decision-making.
  • Identify underutilized insights and prepare reports with findings.
  • Support the extraction, cleaning, and analysis of large real-world datasets (claims, EHR, hospital encounters).
  • Build and validate analytic cohorts using appropriate inclusion/exclusion criteria, index dates, baseline windows, and follow-up periods.
  • Perform descriptive analyses, economic evaluations, treatment pattern analyses, adherence measures, and healthcare utilization studies.
  • Assist in conducting regression modeling, time-to-event analyses, and basic causal inference methods under supervision.
  • Contribute to burden-of-illness, cost, resource utilization, and claims-based effectiveness studies.
  • Conduct data validation, quality checks, and cross-verification against vendor specifications.
  • Maintain clear, version-controlled documentation, data dictionaries, and analytic workflows.
  • Ensure all analyses follow internal governance, data-use agreements, and HIPAA requirements.
  • Support preparation of business reports, slide decks, abstracts, manuscripts, and payer evidence summaries.
  • Partner with clinical, operational, reimbursement, and market access teams to align research questions with analytic approaches.
  • Present data-driven insights to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Participate in internal meetings, trainings, and cross-functional working groups.
  • Remain current on relevant clinical areas, HEOR methodologies, and RWE best practices.
  • Represent the HEOR function professionally and contribute to a collaborative, positive team culture.
  • Demonstrate intellectual curiosity and a commitment to continuous learning in RWE, HEOR, and quantitative methods.
  • Communicate proactively and share relevant insights with colleagues and leadership.

Required/Preferred Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in health economics, epidemiology, biostatistics, public health, data science, economics, health policy, or a related quantitative field required
  • 2+ years experience working with healthcare data (claims, EHR, registry, or operational data) through academic, internship, or professional work preferred
  • Hands-on experience with SQL and at least one of Python or R
  • Experience with cohort creation, RWE research design, or causal inference fundamentals.
  • Experience working with dashboards, reporting platforms, or internal analytics environments.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Familiarity with basic statistical analysis (regression, survival analysis, confidence intervals).
  • Ability to learn and apply common clinical coding systems (ICD-10, HCPCS/CPT, DRG, NDC).
  • Exposure to large administrative claims datasets or EHR-based research.
  • Exposure to HEOR modeling (e.g., budget impact, cost-effectiveness) or ISPOR/FDA RWE guidelines.
  • Strong analytical, statistical, and quantitative reasoning skills.
  • Proficiency in SQL and either Python or R for data manipulation and analysis.
  • Ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High attention to detail, accuracy, and reproducibility.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across clinical, commercial, and operational teams.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a remote environment.

The annual salary for this position is:

$90,000.00 to $120,000.00

This position is eligible for an annual bonus in accordance with the company's bonus plan. Factors which may affect starting salary include geography, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
