Job Description Job Description EBAD seeks an engineer for the position of Electrical Design Manager, reporting to the Director of Engineering. Responsibilities: The Electrical Design Manager leads a team responsible for product and test equipment electrical design including circuit design/analysis, FPGA design, test script development and component lifecycle management. This role is accountable for electrical design for cost (DFC) and design for manufacturability (DFM) objectives, while ensuring compliance with program/product safety, performance and reliability requirements. The Electrical Design Manager is responsible for:
- Providing clear direction, performance feedback, and career development guidance to direct reports
- Setting clear goals and expectations aligned with business core values and priorities
- Conducting regular one-on-ones, tag-ups, and team meetings to foster communication and alignment
- Fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement
- Supporting hiring, onboarding, and retention of talent
- Allocating resources effectively across projects to balance workload and priorities
- Identify skill gaps and implement training, mentoring, or development plans to strengthen team capability
- Driving cost-effective (DFC) and manufacturable (DFM) designs throughout the development lifecycle
- Partnering closely with operations, quality, engineering, and supply chain to optimize designs.
- Ensuring compliance with applicable standards (MIL-STD, NASA-STD, AS9100, DoD, IPC, IEEE, customer)
- Participating in technical, manufacturing, and readiness reviews (PDR, CDR, MRR, TRR)
- Leading problem-solving efforts for product and test equipment electrical designs
- Interfacing with program managers and customers on technical, producibility, and affordability objectives
- Partnering with Systems, Mechanical Design, Development Engineering and Test Engineering to ensure product and packaging designs satisfy safety, performance, reliability and regulatory requirements.
Requirements: Education
- Bachelor's Degree (Electrical Engineering Preferred)
Experience/Skills
- 7+ years of electrical design experience in space, defense, or other high-reliability industries
- 3+ years of experience leading engineering teams
- Strong understanding of analog and digital circuit design, including power regulation, signal conditioning, and mixed-signal systems
- Experience designing high-reliability electronic hardware from concept through production
- Proficiency with schematic capture and PCB design tools (Altium Designer, OrCAD, Mentor Graphics, etc.)
- Working knowledge of PCB layout constraints for high-density, high-speed, and high-power designs
- Understanding of power distribution, grounding, and shielding best practices
- Experience with EMI/EMC mitigation techniques and compliance testing
- Familiarity with electrical analysis including worst-case analysis, tolerance analysis, and derating
- Familiarity with component selection for high-reliability environments, including lifecycle management and obsolescence considerations
- Experience generating and maintaining technical documentation, including schematics, BOMs, ICDs, and test procedures
- Familiarity with electrical systems troubleshooting and debugging using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and power analyzers
- Leading teams through problem solving and root cause analysis
- Working knowledge of export and document control requirements (ITAR/EAR, CUI)
- Must have or be able to obtain a U.S Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance.
- Must be a U.S or naturalized Citizen capable of working on U.S. DoD and ITAR restricted products
