Truck and Equipment Mechanic (Emporia Virginia)

Job Summary:

Performs maintenance in all service trucks and diesel heavy equipment, specializes in repairing, maintaining, and inspecting large vehicles, such as trucks, buses, dirt equipment and trailers.

• Truck mechanics are responsible for repairing and maintaining heavy diesel vehicles, such as trucks and buses, with duties ranging from performing routine services to building complete engine.
• Truck mechanics assure safe vehicle operations on the road by expertly diagnosing problems with the mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
• specializes in repairing, maintaining, and inspecting big vehicles, such as trucks, buses, and trailers.
• Advanced knowledge of a vehicle, its electrical system and the mechanisms of a diesel engine
• In-depth knowledge of gas and diesel engine components and operational mechanisms
• Superior knowledge of maintenance tools and repair equipment
• Comfortable using mechanical and electrical power tools
• Must be knowledge in computer systems and other relevant electronics
• Proficiency in the use of diesel engine diagnostic software
• A valid driver's license
• Good interpersonal skills
• Effective collaboration and communication skills
• Identify safety hazards you or other employees may be subject to and take all necessary corrective action to eliminate or minimize hazards.
• Perform all other job-related duties as requested by supervision.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of four (4) years or more as Journeyman heavy duty Mechanic.
• Must be able to maintain record of serviced equipment and trucks.
• Must be able to run diagnostic teste on heavy equipment and trucks.
• Must be able to perform preventive maintenance on service heavy equipment and all trucks.
• Must be able to maintain inventory of all equipment parts.
• General knowledge of basic hand tools.
• Must be able to complete the NCCER certification for your craft.
• Must be able to complete the Matrix Service Safety training and Client / Site specific training.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain an active status within the DISA drug testing program.

Physical Requirements:

• Employee will be required to adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting and lifting.
• Must have good dexterity with hands and fingers to perform the precision adjustments of machinery parts and controls.
• Will use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, pull objects, materials, controls and tools.
• May be required to lift, carry and move up to 50lbs.
• Will occasionally work at heights, climb ladders and stairways and work off of platforms.
• Will use vision abilities to focus, see short and long distances, colors, depth perception and peripheral vision.
• Must be capable of working outside in the elements including but not limited to the heat, cold, rain, snow and wind; and must be able to work for long period of times up to 12 hours a day.
• Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vests, gloves and steel-toe boots.
