Pay Range

$79,920 - $97,848 Annually

This is the lowest to highest salary range in good faith we believe would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee's position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.

This position may offer a hybrid schedule, which includes the flexibility to work from home one or more days per week, after a probationary period. The specifics of the hybrid schedule, including the exact number of days required in the office and virtual work options may vary based on the needs of the team and the organization.


Job Description

We have an opening for an Accountant, Help Desk to work in a dynamic and fast paced environment. You will work independently following established procedures to provide financial help desk activities related to payroll, accounts payable, travel accounting, and other financial functions. You will perform a broad scope, to develop, solve and implement new techniques and procedures. This position is in the Disbursements Division in the Office of the CFO (OCFO) organization.

You will

  • Interpret and provide problem resolution for financial and disbursement operations in accordance with organizational policies and procedures; solution of routine problems utilizing standard procedures and judgment.
  • Meet customer needs in an efficient and effective manner; resolve customer requests for information and/or issue resolution.
  • Identify and recommend process improvements, leveraging current tools available at the Laboratory. May be assigned responsibility for implementation of a process improvement within their work team. May participate in department/cross functional projects, defining user requirements.
  • Manage customer service calls, with effective verbal and written communication and a professional demeanor.
  • Develop training documents and knowledge articles to enhance capabilities of internal and external personnel on Financial and Disbursement activities.
  • Develop and track performance metrics for senior level staff using intermediate Excel and performance tools.
  • Participate in testing new/upgraded system functionality of help desk and financial systems.
  • Research customer requests using various accounting and payroll electronic resources.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications
  • Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and related experience and training in the finance/ accounting field.
  • Experience using a Help Desk solution to assist requestors.
  • Fundamental knowledge and understanding of accounts payable, travel, payroll, and other financial functions.
  • Familiarity with Oracle and PeopleSoft or other financial and payroll applications and knowledge of computer-based spreadsheets, report generated applications and communication tools (e.g., Microsoft Suite, Outlook, Service Now).
  • Demonstrated organizational skills to handle multiple tasks simultaneously with frequent interruptions, while providing a high level of customer service and demonstrated problem solving and decision-making skills necessary to independently solve problems of broad scope and complexity.
  • Ability to interpret and apply financial policy and procedures, including State and Federal policies, procedures and regulations and experience in applying and ensuring internal controls are followed.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as a team member, while maintaining a heavy workload, meeting critical deadlines, and working effectively under time constraints. Effective written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills to work with all levels of personnel, both internal and external to the Laboratory, including establishing and maintaining relationships with clients, co-workers, external vendors, and Laboratory service units.
  • Adaptability to learn multiple internal systems and establish a strong working knowledge for both usage and guiding customers.

Security Clearance

This position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance.If you are selected, wewill initiate a Federal background investigation to determine if youmeet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter. Also, all L or Q cleared employees are subject to random drug testing. Q-level clearance requires U.S. citizenship.
