Position: Structural Engineer I

Department: Industrial, Process and Agribusiness (IPA)

Reporting Relationship: Structural Engineering Manager

POSITION OVERVIEW & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Structural Engineer I will be responsible for supporting the design, analysis, and evaluation of structural systems for a variety of building and infrastructure projects. This position provides an opportunity to work closely with senior engineers, applying engineering principles and technical skills to deliver safe and effective solutions. The successful candidate will contribute to project documentation, calculations, and coordination efforts while gaining valuable experience in the field of structural engineering.

Specific responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following:

  • Assist in the design and analysis of structural components for buildings and industrial structures.
  • Prepare engineering drawings, specifications, and reports under the guidance of senior staff.
  • Assist in conducting site inspections and field visits to monitor construction activities and verify adherence to design plans.
  • Perform engineering calculations for various structures using a variety of construction materials.
  • Computer modeling of buildings and industrial structures.
  • Design equipment foundations.
  • Determine structural loading for gravity and later force resisting systems.
  • Conduct construction observations.
  • Other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field.
  • 0-4 years of relevant experience in structural engineering, which may include internships or co-op positions.
  • Basic knowledge of structural engineering principles, building codes, and construction practices.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and familiarity with structural analysis software.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills facilitate collaboration with diverse project stakeholders, helping to integrate structural designs seamlessly with architectural and construction plans.
    • Must be legally authorized to work in the US on a permanent basis without the need for work sponsorship now or in the future.
    • Represent the company in a professional matter.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with others.
    • Knowledge of computer technology and specific areas of application .
    • Travel: May include up to 5% domestic travel.

Preferred

  • Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, or other CAD/BIM software.
  • Familiarity with construction methods and project management practices.
  • Internship or co-op experience in structural engineering or related fields.

Working Conditions

  • Some work locations will feature the tough terrain typical of construction sites or require lifting or moving field testing equipment.

Salary Range: $72,000 - $90,000 annually. The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual qualifications, experience, work location, and education. This position is eligible for an annual bonus.
