Job Description:
- Solicit new potential business by expanding account base.
- Achieve monthly group booking goals through effective negotiation and placement of business.
- Identify and develop new markets.
- Function as effective liaison between clients and hotel personnel.
- Accurately judge group leads for effective placement of business.
- Maintain and monitor existing accounts to ensure optimum booking activity.
- Achieve solicitation quotas and room night production goals.
- Maintain awareness of market situation and its impact on the hotel. Anticipate business needs with flexible planning.
- Attain personal booking goals on key account.
- Develop sales strategies to target individual markets and effectively execute these plans and actions.
- Negotiate rates and availability for group business.
- Interact in courteous and professional manner with all guests, staff and community members.
- Respond in courteous, professional and rapid manner in order to resolve all guest and staff difficulties.
- Apply principles of logical thinking to a wide range of un-standardized intellectual and practical problems in order to perform and direct many varied and complex tasks.
- Supervise, direct, coordinate, influence and persuade staff in order to maintain service standards of hotel.
- Interact with people beyond giving and receiving instructions, particularly interaction with supervisor, subordinates, co-workers, and guests in completing assignments, resolving staff and guest complaints.
- Interpret and comply with a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic or schedule form.
- Perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature without loss of efficiency or composure.
- Maintain clean and safe work area.
Required Qualifications:
- Four Year College degree preferred
- A minimum of 3 to 4 years group experience in hotel sales.
- Extensive knowledge of hotel operations.
- Thorough knowledge of group market place
- Through knowledge of occupancy trends and competition in San Francisco.
- Ability to establish long-term relationship with clients.
- Ability to work independently and aggressively in selling.
- Ability to meet productivity requirements.
- Ability to sell selectively to obtain maximum room rate during high demand periods.
- Ability to negotiate and close maximum room occupancy during low and moderate demand periods.
- Ability to lead by example.
- Exceptional oral communication skills to ensure ability to negotiate and persuade guests and staff to achieve results beneficial to operation of hotel.
- Ability to access, input, analyzes and retrieves information from computers.
- Ability to maintain excellent relations with staff.
- Ability to maintain staff and guest confidentiality at all times.
- Ability to converse calmly with irate guests, superiors, co-workers and subordinates in sometimes intense emotional situations.
- Ability to focus and maintain attention to performance of tasks despite frequent stressful, emergency, critical or unusual interruptions.
- Ability to memorize, recollect and quickly retrieve dates, names, times and other data.
- Ability to work and complete assignments on time despite frequent stressful, emergency, critical or unusual interruptions.
- Ability to sit walks, stand, lift, reach, pull, push and grasp.
