Arkema Inc. is actively recruiting for an IE Controls Technician who directly reports to the Maintenance Supervisor. The site is located on the east side of the Houston area with approximately 70 employees producing sulfur-based products. This position performs tasks of Instrument, electrical, analyzer and controls troubleshooting, and repair related to process equipment. This position manages continuous improvement through completion of work orders, collaboration with Engineering/SMEs on projects, and addressing field issues and findings related to craft responsibilities. The role is also responsible for ensuring that all AIMS HESQ policies & practices (ISO-9001, ISO-14001, ISO-45001 & RCMS) are followed. This includes compliance with OSHA 1910, environmental regulations and permits, quality systems, and safe work permit practices. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Safety:
- Engages in corporate and site safety policies and initiatives. (The Essentials, SWAT, CHATS-BBS etc.)
- Supports and promotes the reporting of all health, safety, environmental, near-miss, accident, or injury incidents.
- Ensures safe work practices and policies are being followed. Permitting, Waste Disposal, Decontamination of equipment, PPE.
Field Technician responsibilities:
- Performs effective preventive and predictive monitoring and maintenance techniques to identify and define abnormal operating conditions.
- Troubleshoots, repairs, calibrates, and installs electrical and instrumentation equipment that is used in the chemical processing facility.
- Ensures housekeeping is always kept high priority.
- Updates maintenance supervisors with job status.
- Reads and interprets work orders, equipment manuals, and I&E drawings to perform required maintenance.
- Creates and submits repair reports and documentation to meet ISO standards.
- Collects equipment operation and history data to facilitate reliability improvements.
- Creates comprehensive procedures to meet corporate and industry requirements related to instrumentation, Electrical, and Analyzers.
- Updates equipment records.
- Participates in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Incident Investigations.
- Assists other trades in performing assigned work as requested.
DCS Controls Tech responsibilities:
- Actively engages with assigned plant capital I&E/Controls project activity.
- Supports plant through continuous improvement of process controls equipment reducing repair frequency and increasing equipment reliability.
- Provides advanced troubleshooting capabilities of plant equipment, such as tracking trends,
- Performs programming for DCS Controls and remote PLC's.
- Responsible for supporting the management of Safety Critical Safeguards by ensuring the discipline of PM loops checks and safety bypass is performed in compliance with site, corporate and industry standard (ISA).
- Responsible for creating comprehensive procedures related to calibrations, validations and loop checks for all needed instrumentation.
- Engages in PHA's representing as an instrument and controls SME.
- Assists Maintenance support staff with job scope, planning, and scheduling of instrument and controls related items.

Provides continuous engagement with operations/production staff around controls providing effective results to operating procedures, operator rounds, alarm management and SCS discipline. Required Education/Qualifications/Work experience
- High school diploma. Technical education/certification preferred
- Minimum 5 years IE Technician experience in industrial type environment
- Minimum 5 years DCS and PLC controls programming experience. Honeywell/TRICONEX Preferred
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Outlook, and SAP.
- Demonstrated leadership, learning and development skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to effectively interface with manufacturing, engineering, and other functions including contractors.
- Strong interpersonal skills are required as well as the ability to solve problems and present solutions.
- Ability to influence without formal authority
Instrumentation Experience:
- Extensive knowledge and experience with various instrumentation installation, calibration, maintenance and troubleshooting along with the ability to read and understand P&ID and Loop Drawings. Experience using communicator to verify settings and programming of instruments in the field.
- Experience troubleshooting and programming PLC's, ladder logic, control valves, Triconex and Honeywell software packages or related DCS platforms.
Electrical Experience:
- Knowledge and experience of troubleshooting equipment with Voltages 12.47 kV and 480V.
- Proficient with reading and understanding P&ID, Relay Drawings, Electrical One-Lines and Loop Drawings.
- Knowledge of testing and maintenance of VFD's, Transformers, Large Motors, UPS Systems and Breakers
