The NC State Veterinary Hospital (VH), established in 1983, is one of the highest-rated veterinary academic medical centers in the country, serving communities throughout North Carolina as well as many other states. The hospital staffs over twenty clinical services with board-certified specialists that are nationally and even internationally renowned, ensuring the VH is on the cutting edge of veterinary medicine.

| Essential Job Duties |
In this role, you won't just be practicing medicine; you will be a vital educator, helping the next generation of veterinarians bridge the gap between classroom theory and clinical excellence. You will work in an environment that prioritizes low-stress handling and Feline-Friendly Practices to ensure the best possible experience for our patients and clients.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Instruction & Mentorship, Teach & Articulate: Break down complex technical tasks (anesthesia, dentistry, venipuncture, catheter placement, etc.) into actionable steps for veterinary students.
Coach: Identify areas where students require improvement and provide constructive, real-time feedback.
Lead by Example: Assist students and veterinarians with examinations, treatments, and surgery using low-stress restraint techniques.
Advanced Technical Care Anesthesia & Surgery: Induce, prep, and monitor patients during surgical and dental procedures; manage recovery from sedation.
Diagnostics: Perform diagnostic imaging (radiographs) and essential laboratory tests.
Patient Management: Administer treatments and maintain meticulous medical records.
Service Operations & Administration Inventory & Logistics: Manage inventory control, supply ordering, and equipment repair schedules.
Hospital Workflow: Ensure correct billing, schedule management, and accurate review of treatment sheets.
Lab Coordination: Organize, set up, and break down procedural laboratories for student teaching, including equipment and cadaver preparation.
Safety & Sanitation: Maintain strict infectious disease protocols and ensure the sterilization of all surgical instruments.
Additionally, this job involves lifting up to 50 pounds (with or without reasonable accommodations) and working safely around anesthetic gases, cleaning chemicals, and zoonotic diseases. |

Qualifications
| Minimum Experience/Education |
Completion of an accredited training program in the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Some positions may require additional Training, Certifications, or Licensure.

| Preferred Qualifications |
Experience: Proven experience in small animal primary care, with strong skills in anesthesia and dentistry. Communication: Exceptional ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to learners. Philosophy: Deep commitment to low-stress handling and Fear Free/Feline-Friendly techniques. Organization: Strong administrative skills with an eye for detail in billing and medical records.
