Job Description

The Seamer Operator is responsible for the set-up and operation of seamer equipment to seam rolls to customer specified dimensions while ensuring that safety, quality and production standards are met.

Knowledge Skills & Abilities:

  • Education sufficient to read, write and follow work instructions (in English) preferable to a High School Diploma or equivalency.
  • General understanding of Flexographic Printing Process
  • Ability to meet schedules and timelines; handle multiple priorities.
  • Must possess keen attention to detail with visual acuity to sufficiently identify product non-conformances.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative & effective working relationships
  • Positive attitude and teamwork
  • Problem solving skills

Essential Functions:

  • Follow and actively support all Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) guidelines.
  • General Housekeeping & 5S
    • Maintains all housekeeping standards to ensure care and maintenance of equipment and sustains an organized, clean work environment free from debris and hazards.
  • Performs tasks associated with Machine/Job Setup/Run: (Time, Quality, Accuracy)
    • Select and setup correct forming plates to ensure proper layflat is maintained minimizing time & maximizing quality
    • Perform task associated with purging system of seaming solvent and inspecting wick to determine if it needs replacing
    • Performs tasks associated with core placement, tension and oscillation settings (time & adjustments)
    • Performs tasks associated with Edge guide setup and master roll alignment to eliminate incorrect seam position
    • Look for slitter splice tape and flag for removal in rewind
    • Verify seam integrity and layflat on every roll
    • Accurately records production record within the computer database, print and apply labels to each roll
  • Participate and/or Lead Autonomous Management and Continuous Improvement activities as required.
  • Meets/exceeds targeted standards related to establish KPI targets
  • Skill Proficiency Indicators: visual inspection process to correct non-conformities within the roll; accuracy and consistency of defect reporting.
