Electrical Construction Inspector
Kennedy Jenks is seeking an Electrical Construction Inspector to work on major water-related infrastructure projects across California. Travel across the state will be required for this position. The Electrical Construction Inspector will provide construction oversight on small to large-scale public works projects, focusing on electrical components of water and wastewater infrastructure, including treatment plants, pump stations, industrial facilities, and electrical controls and instrumentation systems (I&C).


Key Responsibilities:



  • Provide daily onsite oversight of electrical contractor activities under the supervision of the Construction Manager/Resident Engineer.
  • Conduct necessary inspections to ensure mechanical installations/repair/replacement of mechanical components within water and wastewater treatment plants to include but not limited to pumps, boilers, digester and propane gas systems, heat recovery system, building cranes, sliding gates, HVAC, Variable frequency drives, fans, process and cooling pipe systems, switchgears, transformers, UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) batteries, washer/classifier, grit system components and piping, fire alarm systems, and heaters. Provide necessary inspections to ensure electrical installations comply with contract requirements, safety standards, and applicable permits.
  • Prepare daily written reports detailing work progress, electrical labor, and equipment use.
  • Track contractor schedule compliance, specifically related to electrical milestones.
  • Prepare written communication between owner and contractor regarding electrical work.
  • Coordinate meetings with contractors, clients, and staff to address electrical work progress.
  • Conduct quality control inspections of electrical systems, wiring, and control installations as well as quality control inspections during commissioning of electrical systems.


Qualifications:



  • 10+ years of experience in inspection of mechanical and electrical components within water and wastewater treatment plants to include but not limited to pumps, boilers, digester and propane gas systems, heat recovery system, building cranes, sliding gates, HVAC, Variable frequency drives, fans, process and cooling pipe systems, switchgears, transformers, UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) batteries, washer/classifier, grit system components and piping, fire alarm systems, and heaters.
  • Experience in water and wastewater pipelines, pump stations, water or wastewater treatment plants, and other electrical systems related to municipal infrastructure is preferred.
  • Certifications related to electrical safety, controls, and systems inspections are a plus.


Hourly Pay Rate for this position is anticipated to be $47+ per hour, and may vary based upon education, experience, qualifications, skills, licensure/certifications, seniority and familiarity with water/wastewater facilities. Many of KJ's California public works projects are prevailing wage projects; therefore, KJ matches the prevailing wage requirements; many times, prevailing wage is higher than base pay rate.
