Join our team as an Interventional Radiology Rad Tech specializing in Neurosurgery/Neuroscience at SMH. This position offers a 4x10 hour schedule during the day, with weekends, holidays, and on-call/callback duties as per unit needs. On-call duties are required 1-2 times per week and 1-2 weekends per month.


Complete Description

We are seeking a healthcare professional with interventional radiology experience. Our unit typically trains Radiologic Technologists from other modalities for up to six months when they start in neuro IR.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate competence in selecting exposure factors and positioning to consistently produce radiologic images of diagnostic quality.
  • Work cooperatively with all department members to resolve problems expediently.
  • Display flexibility, team spirit, compassion, respect, politeness, and accountability when dealing with customers.
  • Demonstrate awareness of and sensitivity to patient rights in all interactions.


Areas of Emphasis

  • Administer oral contrast as needed per exam.
  • Instruct and prepare patients for radiographic/fluoroscopic examinations and assist the Radiologist during procedures.
  • Demonstrate competence and proficiency in the operation of all x-ray equipment, CR, and DR systems.
  • Report equipment malfunctions to the manager or lead.
  • Complete all assigned procedures in a timely manner and use time between procedures to the department's advantage by assisting others, performing clerical duties, stocking, transporting, etc.
  • Understand the role in maintaining medication security to authorized personnel only.
  • Demonstrate competency in providing healthcare services in own job category to all age groups.
  • Demonstrate competency in interpersonal relationships with all age groups.


Documentation/Information Management

  • Demonstrate competency in the use of Hospital Information System (HIS), Radiology Information System (RIS), and PACS.
  • Participate in hospital performance improvement activities (BPI projects, task forces, etc.) when warranted.
  • Maintain confidentiality using own password and all patient care modules.
  • Answer telephone inquiries of a technical nature from physicians or hospital personnel in other areas while maintaining good phone etiquette.


Requirements

  • BLS (American Heart Association ONLY)
  • Two (2) years of experience
  • Licensing in the state of NY
