Position Summary

The Senior Systems Analyst works with business leaders, end users, Customers, and agile delivery team members to support many areas of the Software Development Lifecycle including requirements gathering, business process documentation, system functional design, system technical design, quality assurance, support, and implementation. This role provides consultation as a solutions provider to business process owners within the organization and coordinates alignment and delivery of solutions with the delivery team. The position takes the lead on multiple complex projects without assistance.


Candidates work remotely, but light travel may be required depending on project specific requirements. Additionally, we love to get together for our annual Business Systems Team event.

What You'll do as a Senior Systems Analyst

  • Leads large complex projects by applying business and technology expertise to improve business processes, support critical system strategies, and maintain communication between business and technology team members for complex system changes while also coaching and mentoring junior team members in the role.
  • Leads Requirements Gathering sessions to formulate and define objectives using various research and fact-finding techniques, such as story mapping, prototyping, questionnaires, surveys, interviews, sampling, observation, working sessions, and walkthroughs.
  • Develops and maintains a prioritized backlog of business needs in the form of User Stories, facilitates User Story refinement sessions, and translates User Stories into workflow and procedural changes and specifications for system modifications.
  • Prepares functional, system and technical designs across multiple IT systems and technology stacks using the principles of lean agile software development to ensure business needs are clearly and concisely communicated to development teams.
  • Collaborates with developers and business users to develop and maintain business process workflows and assists in implementing system changes within the business by providing notification of upcoming changes as well as documentation and training.
  • Participates in functional and technical design reviews to identify issues before development begins, utilizes SQL skills to understand system behavior and usage, and leads UAT to proactively identify issues during development.
  • Consults with end-users and 3rd party vendors to manage software defects by identifying the root cause and working them to resolution in a calm professional manner.
  • Works closely with Project Managers to assist in planning and management of projects, releases, sprints, a resource alignment.
  • Champions lean/agile solutions delivery principles within the organization by developing and maintain relationships with business users and fostering an environment where everyone is comfortable sharing ideas and continuously improving.
  • Works within policies and procedures to ensure compliance to regulatory controls including but not limited to SOX and aides in the IT general controls processes related to auditing, monitoring, approvals, and validation.

The Experience, Abilities and Skills Needed

  • Bachelors Degree and 7+ years of related experience
  • Demonstrated ability to capture business needs in refined User Stories ready for Sprint Planning.
  • Demonstrated ability in designing the workflow and user experience for software systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional groups to produce business process map and drive gap analysis to implement future state
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate group collaboration that drives team engagement in breaking down complex problems into smaller, iterative deliverables.
  • Experience writing basic SQL for the purpose of analysis, testing, and troubleshooting
  • Experience in an agile Software Development Lifecycle
  • Effective communication skills demonstrating the ability use storytelling to explain how iterative deliverables fit into the strategic vision.
  • Experience working within a lean/agile software delivery environment.

Pay range for this opportunity is $85,000-$115,000.This position is eligible for bonus participation.

Minimum pay rates offered will comply with county/city minimums, if higher than range listed. Pay rates are based on a number of factors, including but not limited to local labor market costs, years of relevant experience, education, professional certifications, foreign language fluency, etc.
