Equipment Engineering Specialists follow the standard Seagate Technology Sputter Shift model, which supports our 24/7 operations for media manufacturing and R&D activities. Sputter operations rely on a compressed shift structure to maintain continuous equipment coverage and technician availability.



Day and Night Shift Structure:





    • Day Shift: 6:00 AM - 6:00 PM
    • Night Shift: 6:00 PM - 6:00 AM
      (Hours may vary slightly by department.)




  • We are currently recruiting for 3 Equipment Engineering specialist III roles.




    • AShift (Days): 1 position
    • BShift (Nights): 1 position
    • CShift (Days): 1 position



About the role - you will:

  • Support routine vacuum system operation, basic maintenance, and equipment readiness activities for R&D applications.
  • Assist with system reconfigurations, staging, and materials movement under direction from senior staff.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting of mechanical and vacuum-related issues and escalate complex problems to senior specialists or engineers.
  • Follow established cleanroom, safety, and operational procedures to maintain a safe and compliant work environment.
  • Maintain documentation for maintenance activities, part usage, and equipment status updates.

About you:

  • Team-Oriented - You communicate effectively and collaborate with engineers, technologists, and equipment operators.
  • Eager to Learn - You adapt quickly to changing priorities and are motivated to develop your technical skills through hands-on experience.

Your experience includes:

  • Basic understanding of vacuum system operation and general mechanical or electrical maintenance.
  • Familiarity with common vacuum components such as pumps, seals, and gauges.
  • Ability to perform routine material handling, inventory checks, and simple equipment adjustments.


  • Willingness and ability to work 11.5hour shifts.

  • Ability to travel locally on occasion.



You Might Also Have:




  • Experience supporting manufacturing or equipment engineering teams.
  • Exposure to sputter deposition systems or similar highvacuum tools.
  • Interest in developing troubleshooting skills for automation or equipment control systems.

The estimated base wage range for this position is $28.11 - $40.00/hr. The individual base wage is based on work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
