Job Description

NNL is seeking an experienced ESH Principal Compliance Engineer in the Environmental Remediation program area, which is part of the Environmental Operations and Remediation (EOR) unit. The EOR unit is comprised of subject matter experts in environmental remediation, radiological environmental monitoring, and compliance sampling at the Knolls Laboratory and Kesselring Site.

The primary function of this position is the implementation of the NYS Resource Conservation and Recovery Act Corrective Action programs at the Knolls Laboratory and Kesselring Sites. This position involves taking a lead role in making sound judgements regarding environmental investigations, environmental monitoring, contaminant fate and transport, remedy selection and evaluation, remediation construction, waste management, and regulatory compliance while working in a team/collaborative environment. Also, the position provides support for directing assessment and remediation of historical petroleum spills. In addition, successful candidates will provide support in maintaining the necessary contracts for the implementation of these programs.

Required skills:
* Experience with conducting Environmental Investigation and Remediation projects in New York State, preferably under the RCRA Corrective Action program.
* Demonstrated experience with environmental investigation and remediation. projects, including project design, execution, applied fieldwork and fieldwork oversight, and principal authorship of technical Corrective Action work plans and reports.
* Demonstrated strong oral and written communication and technical writing skills.
* Demonstrated experience with contract preparation and budgeting.
* Experienced in the reduction and assessment of inorganic and organic chemical analytical data (especially emerging contaminants (i.e., PFAS)) in various environmental media.
* HAZWOPER Qualification with current 8-hour refreshers.
* Educational background in geology, hydrogeology, or environmental engineering.
* Experienced interfacing with external regulators (e.g., NYSDEC, NYSDOH, EPA).

Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill
Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience; or Masters degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience; or Doctorate degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience; or Currently an Principal Reactor Training Engineer, Refueling Engineer, or Field (RPCO) Engineer at the Company.
Preferred Skills

* Experienced with NYS and Federal regulations and guidance RCRA, TSCA, NEPA, and SHPONYSDEC DER-10, 6 NYCRR Part 375, Commissioners Policies (e.g., CP-43, CP-51), TOGS 1.1.1, and 6 NYCRR Part 703.
* Project Management experience

Pay Range
$105,200.00 - $164,400.00 annually
Salary information provided is a general guideline only. Annual salary is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
