DESCRIPTION

We're looking for an HR generalist unicorn! You thrive in a team environment of collaboration, yet flourish when trusted and empowered to work with independence and autonomy. You are brilliantly organized, detail-focused, and take pride in your work ethic, yet truly come alive when asked to brainstorm creative solutions for thorny problems or original ideas for "the way we've always done it." You are a consummate professional, yet know how to build light-hearted relationships with your teammates. You are a credible source of information, yet hungry to always learn more. You already have a depth of HR knowledge in a variety of areas, yet have additional ambitions for your career. You are excited to embrace technology, yet understand it doesn't always replace the human touch. You might or might not be looking for a job, yet are magnetically drawn to this one!

The Opportunity The Human Resources Analyst is part of a service team, reporting directly to a Senior Human Resources Analyst and generally to the Deputy Chief Talent Officer and Chief Talent Officer. Each Analyst (there are 2 Analysts and 2 Senior Analysts) is responsible for both serving as an HR generalist business partner to 2-3 fast-paced City Departments (managing recruitment, classification & compensation, labor relations, performance management & discipline, leave issues, etc. for each assigned department) and for becoming and serving as the HR Department's designated internal "expert" in a specific area of HR (recruitment/Neogov; benefits, leaves, and payroll; labor relations; classification & compensation; or employee relations).

Why You'll Love Working With Us
We are a supportive, high-performing team that values employee development and growth. We have potlucks to celebrate birthdays and compete aggressively in the semi-annual Office Olympics and Citywide Halloween Decorating Contest (reigning Grand Decor Champion, thank you very much...). We offer lots of opportunities to develop your technical HR skills, soft skills, and project management skills through professional memberships, external and internal trainings, and multi-day conferences. We reward curiosity, initiative, grit, and innovation, all while trying to prepare you for whatever comes next.

Qualifications We will be most excited by your passion for this position, so any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities will be considered! A typical way would be a bachelor's degree in human resources or public administration, and three years of increasingly responsible experience in human resources, with a strong preference for a background in local government.

Application Process

Applications will be accepted until Tuesday, February 16, 2026, at 10 a.m. An application via governmentjobs.com is required; a resume and engaging cover letter are highly recommended, as the quality of these materials will be part of the screening process to determine who moves forward.
