Department's Website: Summary of Job Duties:The Public Safety Police Officer is responsible for the enforcement of traffic, criminal laws, and parking regulations. This position is governed by law enforcement standards, state and federal laws, and agency policy. Work shift assignments can change at the discretion of the Chief.* Patrolling campus to detect and prevent crimes, enforcing traffic laws and parking regulations, and identifying safety hazards and violators. * Performing safety checks of buildings and securing buildings. * Conducting investigations of crimes, accidents, and reporting incidents committed on campus. * Directing traffic during periods of high density. * Arresting violators, writing incident reports, and testifying in court as necessary. * Receiving and investigating incident reports and complaints from students, faculty, staff, and visitors. * Cooperating with city, county, and state law enforcement officials in serving warrants, apprehending individuals, and obtaining information associated with investigations. * Monitoring security systems, assisting with checking the alarm and emergency systems. * Responding to alarms, calls for assistance, checking for locked or unlocked buildings and offices, as necessary, and assisting stranded motorists and others in need of assistance. * Using tactics, as trained and equipped, in preserving the safety of citizens, oneself, and fellow officers. * Communicating general and public safety information to students, staff, faculty, and the general public. * Detecting, investigating, and reporting breaches of facilities, property damage, missing property, and hazardous conditions; maintaining uniforms and equipment; attending training. * Assisting in planning and implementing public service programs and training. Qualifications: Qualifications The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma. * Certified as a law enforcement officer by the Arkansas Law Enforcement Standards Training Academy, or a similar academy, in accordance with ACA 12-9-106 * Possession of a valid state motor vehicle operator's license.
