Motion Designer (Contract)

This is a full-time (40hrs a week), 6 month contractrole based in Austin, TX, with in-office collaboration expected three or more days per week.


Summary

A leading digital brand in a high?visibility consumer category is seeking a Contract Motion Designer to support integrated creative campaigns across social, digital, CRM, branded content, and storytelling channels. You will bring concepts to life through motion systems, animation, and thoughtful visual storytelling while collaborating closely with designers, copywriters, video editors, and cross?functional partners.

This role is ideal for an experienced motion designer who can quickly onboard into an established creative ecosystem, execute with speed and craft, and independently take work from brief to final delivery.


Our Ideal Candidate

  • 3-5 years of professional motion design experience with a portfolio featuring integrated campaign work
  • Strong proficiency in After Effects, with working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and Premiere
  • Deep understanding of timing, pacing, typography, composition, and motion principles
  • Experience collaborating with creative partners in a fast?paced production environment
  • Ability to manage deadlines independently while producing polished, high?quality work
  • Bonus familiarity with CRM or lifecycle motion, Lottie or digital product motion systems, or 3D tools such as Cinema 4D, Blender, or Unreal Engine
  • Experience working from structured briefs or journey?based frameworks is a plus

Job Description

In this role, you will design and animate motion assets across social, digital advertising, CRM, branded content, and broader campaign deliverables. You will translate creative concepts into storyboards, motion studies, and final animations and will collaborate with designers using Figma and other static design tools.

You will work closely with video editors to integrate motion graphics, titles, and visual effects into campaign content, ensuring all work aligns with brand guidelines and creative direction. Clear communication, proactive collaboration, and efficient incorporation of feedback are key to success in this role.


What You Will Do
For the Work

  • Design and animate motion assets for social, digital ads, CRM, branded content, and campaign executions
  • Translate creative concepts into storyboards, motion studies, and final animations for short? and long?form content
  • Execute motion design primarily using After Effects; collaborate with designers working in Figma and static tools
  • Partner with video editors to integrate graphics, titles, and visual effects
  • Ensure motion deliverables adhere to brand guidelines and campaign direction
  • Incorporate feedback efficiently while maintaining clarity and craft
  • Deliver assets on schedule and within defined scope, timelines, and technical requirements

For the Collaboration

  • Work closely with designers, copywriters, project managers, and video editors
  • Participate in working sessions and reviews to align on direction and execution
  • Communicate proactively using tools like Slack and Asana to maintain visibility and progress
  • Seek clarification early to ensure expectations, scope, and deliverables are aligned

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in design, animation, motion media, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • Background in motion design for digital, integrated marketing, or brand?centric campaigns
  • Experience supporting both short?form and long?form content development

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to work independently in a dynamic, fast?paced environment
  • Strong organizational habits and attention to detail
  • Comfort operating within structured briefs and established workflows
  • Familiarity with digital product motion systems or 3D workflows is a plus

The hourly pay for this W-2 position ranges from $35 - $40.

This position may be eligible for PTO, health and dental insurance, and/or 401(k) benefits upon meeting certain length of service and hours requirements.
