Position Overview

The Senior Scientist I leads complex research and development initiatives to create innovative products, processes, and technologies. This role applies advanced scientific principles, design of experiments, and project management discipline to drive solutions from concept through commercialization. The position provides technical leadership, mentors colleagues, and collaborates crossfunctionally to support business, customer, and operational objectives.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Plan and lead large-scale R&D projects using project management and StageGate discipline.

  • Apply Design of Experiments (DOE) and statistical analysis to guide development decisions.

  • Generate innovative product, process, or method concepts within area of technical expertise.

  • Translate structure-property-performance relationships into viable technical solutions.

  • Deliver projects within defined timelines and budget constraints.

  • Provide technical leadership throughout development, scale-up, and commercialization.

  • Prepare and present technical reports to customers and business leadership.

  • Collaborate on global and cross-functional project teams.

  • Coach and mentor laboratory and technical staff.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or Polymer Science with 5+ years of professional industry experience
    OR

  • Master's degree in the same disciplines with 3+ years of professional industry experience
    OR

  • Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or Polymer Science

  • Demonstrated ability to apply scientific theories, concepts, and techniques to complex problems.

  • Proven experience generating new product, process, or method concepts.

  • Experience leading large-scale projects using StageGate or similar frameworks.

  • Proficiency with DOE methodologies and statistical analysis tools.

  • Strong communication and presentation skills.

Preferred Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Polymer Science or Materials Science & Engineering with 3+ years of industry experience.

  • Experience with polyurethane, epoxy, acrylic, UV-curable chemistries or silicone.

  • Experience developing conformal coatings or thermal management materials.

  • Experience supporting scale-up and manufacturing implementation initiatives.

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, and geographic location.

The salary for this role is $86,000 - $100,000.
