About the role

As a Reworld intern, you'll take part in meaningful, hands-on projects that drive Reworld's business of transforming waste into value. Interns contribute to real sustainability initiatives while learning from experienced professionals who lead with safety, integrity, and customer focus. You'll be encouraged to share ideas, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and take accountability for impactful work that supports a smarter, more sustainable future.

What You'll Do:

  • Engage in problem-solving projects following a standardized problem-solving process (PSR) used at Reworld.
  • Participate in small teams focused on value stream mapping (VSM) and process improvement initiatives (Kaizen).
  • Support the development of a comprehensive site-level deployment of Reworld's Lean Operating System, including the curation of Lean tool and soft skill training.
  • Analyze raw data and provide results to help leaders draw conclusions about that information.
  • Using Microsoft Power BI, create visual dashboards where reoccurring analysis is required.
  • Assist leaders with return on investment (ROI) analysis to measure an investment's profitability.
  • Develop and document Standardized Work for operations.
  • This individual could also have the opportunity to take Lean Practitioner Training, ~40 hours through the Gemba Academy, and possibly even get certified as a Lean Practitioner by us, if motivated to lead a continuous improvement project with coaching and guidance.

Who You Are:

  • Currently enrolled in undergraduate or graduate degree program in Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Sciences, or related discipline.
  • Motivated self-starter who is passionate about sustainability and interested in learning more about innovative waste solutions.
  • Strong communicator who thrives in a collaborative, safety-oriented environment.
  • Passionate about waste reduction and continuous improvement.
