Job Purpose

Complete daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual tasks, as assigned, to facilitate the monthly general ledger close process, as well as the quarterly and annual reporting requirements. Take ownership of duties assigned and assists in research of transactions and/or reconciling items. Ability to cross train duties and use critical and analytical thinking related to generally accepted accounting standards.

Job Duties

  • Perform daily and monthly corporate accounting duties.
  • Prepare and record standard general ledger entries.
  • Assist with the monthly, quarterly and annual financial statement closing process and related internal controls.
  • Research outages and be able to explain and/or record correcting journal entries.
  • Utilize excel and create calculations, lookups, pivot tables and other excel functions to complete worksheets needed for efficiency of completing most job duties
  • Complete assigned tasks and/or projects throughout year as provided.
  • Include being responsible for and/or back up of at least one additional major job function which could include the following:
    • Lease Funding (Borrowings)
    • Lease Accounting
    • Compile and provide detail to ensure all general ledgers have been balanced monthly.
  • Be able to reconcile General Ledger accounts and ensure source documents are included to support the balances such as the following:
    • Other Assets
    • Prepaids
    • Accruals
    • Other Liabilities
    • Cash Accounts
  • Will perform special projects as assigned.

Education, Experience and Job Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, or related field from an accredited college or university or equivalent work experience.
  • Must be able to work independently under general instruction/supervision in completion of current assignments and new tasks assigned (must be able to complete assigned work accurately and timely with general direction).
  • Must have or develop an above average knowledge of assigned areas of responsibility, understand and observe the need for internal controls, and cross train in one other accounting specialty area.
  • Demonstrate an above average ability to navigate systems, software, and an understanding of policies and procedures (develop understanding of where information is located, how to obtain, and use in efficient manner).
  • Proven ability to plan and organize resources to achieve goals.
  • Basic knowledge of accounting principles from either practical work experience or accounting coursework.
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office, specifically Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills - team members, peers, and management.
  • Proven ability to plan and organize resources to achieve goals.
  • Continue professional development through self-training, participation in recommended courses, job related in-house training, seminars, and/or professional certifications - minimum 16 CPE qualified hours annually.
  • Developed listening, problem solving, and time management skills.
  • Must be composed under pressure and demonstrate ability to effectively handle conflict.
  • Must be a team player.

Basic Qualifications
