Responsibilities:

*Clinical expert for rehab services within PHS
* Prepares, conducts and documents department staff meetings.
*Organizes educational opportunities for staff. Tracks and approves CEU expenses.
*Performs personnel management functions including:
* Hiring process, orientation, promoting, evaluating, counseling, and disciplinary action.
*Oversight of staff schedules, personnel and work performance
*Completes personnel actions.
*Approval of payroll
*Oversight of requested time off
*Provides and participates in effective departmental problem solving and troubleshooting
*Validation of current licensure and training requirements of staff. Maintains department personnel files. Assists director in the development and maintenance of contracts (i.e. students or contract staff).
*
*Facilitates and follows through with customer related issues including problem solving. Enters, follows-up and completes patient complaints and compliments. Reviews and shares patient satisfaction results.
*
*Assists director in developing and maintaining policies and procedures, objectives, performance improvement programs, safety, environmental and infection control standards, quality management,.
*Develops, evaluates, monitors, and recommends new or revised programs.
*
*Assures compliance with regulatory agencies (i.e. Joint Commission, OSHA, CMS, NM State, State Practice Acts)
*Assists the department director in planning, supervising, and organizing the operational and financial activities of the department, including developing goals for rehabilitation services. Computes rehabilitation costs in conjunction with department director and assists with the preparation of the annual budget.
*Develops monthly reports including statistical data and action plans to the department director.
*Directs/approves the purchasing/requisitioning of rehabilitation supplies and equipment. Recommends and assists the director in the minor and major capital budget requests.
* Keeps current with developments in the field of rehab services through participation in seminars, workshops, and/or review of publications.
*Develops and provides educational/preventative health programs and in-services for hospital employees, community members, and rehab student affiliates.
*Consults and communicates with medical staff, other healthcare providers and department directors and managers on matters relating to rehabilitation services. Represents rehabilitation services on hospital-wide and system-wide committees and participates in interdisciplinary performance improvement teams.
*Communicates and collaborates with rehab management team.
*Provides occasional clinical duties as a licensed therapist.
*Observes for and resolves patient safety issues.
*Manages daily revenues and expenses within budget.
*Reviews charge denials and trending; implements department specific training.

Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy or Masters in Speech Language Pathology. New Mexico license required. Minimum of three years experience in healthcare management preferred
