Job Description

Position Summary: The Director of Engineering provides technical and managerial leadership for the long-term strategy of the Airfoils Division. This role oversees engineering initiatives across Ceramics, Mentor, and SMP Operations, ensuring alignment with business objectives. Key responsibilities include improvement of process control, leading cost-reduction programs, supporting production part yield and cost performance, and driving new product introductions in each facility.

Essential Functions:

  • Lead engineering activities focused on improving manufacturing processes, developing new products, enhancing existing designs, and eliminating waste.
  • Serve as a strong technical liaison and maintain effective communication with customers and critical suppliers.
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, and sales teams to evaluate feasibility, cost-effectiveness, and market demand for new and existing products.
  • Foster a culture of complete ownership and promote a disciplined, structured approach to problem solving.
  • Recruit, train, and mentor engineering staff to ensure team effectiveness and foster professional growth.
  • Build a talent pipeline through engagement with co-op programs and leadership/technical development initiatives.
  • Provide technical guidance to production teams on new concepts, troubleshooting, and manufacturing objectives.
  • Advocate for the engineering group's needs and ensure alignment with organizational goals.
  • Define and execute short and long-term strategies for engineering functions.

Experience & Education

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, metallurgical, materials, or other related engineering discipline.
  • Master's degree preferred.

Minimum of 20 years of engineering experience in investment casting, including at least 10 years in a technical leadership role.
