Surgical Technologist Program Coordinator

Job Summary

Under general direction of surgical services leadership, program coordinator will serve as the subject matter expert regarding the unit-educated surgical technologist program and the surgical technologist apprenticeship program. The coordinator will manage activities with placement, onboarding, education and documentation of the learning process. Demonstrating strong collaboration skills to build relationships with external education partners and internal education team members, preceptors and departmental leadership. The Program Coordinator must have a working knowledge of the surgical technologist role, including sterile technique as hands on demonstration is often needed with new learners.

Essential Functions

  • Functions as a subject matter expert for unit educated and Apprentice ST programs in coordination with Surgical Services site leadership.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills in identifying and leveraging all available organizational resources to assist with management of programs.
  • Directs education, competency and assessment requirements for unit educated and Apprentice employees as well as other program activities and responsibilities.
  • Coordinates with external partners to ensure education materials meet requirements, competency and credentialing standards.
  • Coordinates with Surgical Services leadership/managers, unit educated ST's and Apprentice ST's to ensure that orientation/training is progressing at desired rate.
  • Participates in creating and maintaining files, records, reports, and other documentation related to requirements and assists with any site level inspections, as necessary.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
  • 5 years of relevant professional experience in the areas of program management or coordination, staffing or scheduling, Surgical Technologist/OR experience or related experiences.
  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association 90 Days Or
  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross 90 Days
  • CRT-Surgical Technologist, Certified (CST) - NBSTSA National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting Upon Hire Or
  • CRT-Surgical First Assistant, Certified (CSFA) - NBSTSA National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting Upon Hire Or
  • CRT-Tech in Surgery (TS-C) - NCCT National Center for Competency Testing Upon Hire Or
  • LIC-Registered Nurse (RN) - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire
