Campus Statement Paradise Valley Community College (PVCC) is a dynamic and student-centered institution located in Phoenix, Arizona. Paradise Valley Community College, a learning-centered community college dedicated to student success, seeks a Ceramics Faculty member to begin Fall 2026. The successful candidate will teach ceramics courses from beginning to advanced level, using varied instructional methods to engage and support a broad student population. Responsibilities include curriculum development, participation in departmental and college initiatives, and contributing to the College's culture of continuous learning and improvement. Specifically, this position will teach ceramics courses, which will include multiple sections and multiple levels of instruction. Supervise and maintain the ceramics classroom, order supplies, and indirectly supervise the ceramics part-time lab assistant. Essential Functions Supervises and instructs a varied population of students in a learning environment; uses learning-centered strategies to engage students and promote student success; demonstrates innovation in teaching and learning and the scholarship of learning by focusing on student learning, retention, and achievement; incorporates instructional technology and alternative delivery or scheduling techniques Develops instructional materials and curriculum; develops written syllabi/course outlines and course materials; assesses and evaluates knowledge of subject matter taught and monitors students' scholastic records; prepares and grades examinations/projects and other learning activities; participates in division and college assessment and program review processes; maintains ADA-compliant materials. Maintains student support hours to assist and advise students Collaborates with faculty and engages in the academic life of the college by participating in campus and/or district committees/initiatives Remains current with new trends and developments in the field through attendance at conferences, courses, seminars, and workshops; performs other duties as assigned, commensurate to the grade level of the position Minimum Qualifications Master's degree or higher in the teaching field -OR- Master's degree or higher in any field with 18 graduate credit hours The following disciplines meet the requirements to teach in this field: MFA, Art, Fine Art, Studio Art, Visual Art, Photography, Graphic Design, Digital Media, Media Arts Desired Qualifications A. Five (5) or more years of experience teaching ceramics courses at the college level B. Experience teaching multiple levels of ceramics courses, from beginning to advanced C. Experience supervising and maintaining a ceramics classroom and/or facility D. Experience coordinating an art related program, project, art exhibit, competition or event E. Experience working collaboratively with fine and performing arts disciplines outside of art; and experience working with and/or leading student clubs and activities outside of the classroom F. Demonstrated use of interactive and/or innovative teaching strategies to engage students with diverse learning styles G.
