What to Expect
The Hardware Product Manager will be part of our energy engineering teams responsible for delivering end-to-end hardware products and services to support Tesla Energy and Charging. This role focuses on charging hardware and ensures alignment between technical execution, market needs, and operational scalability. The ideal candidate combines deep hardware expertise, firmware/software fluency, and the ability to balance customer experience with deployment realities. What You'll Do
- Drive hardware product strategy, variants and long-term hardware roadmaps, translating business priorities and user experience into technical requirements
- Own end-to-end hardware initiatives from concept to SOP, prioritizing and handing off to engineering teams while providing product support throughout design
- Ensure engineering technical requirements align with initial business case, GTM strategy, and deployment realities
- Own market research, competitor insights, and GTM assumptions for hardware products
- Own internal engineering pilots and ensure learnings are incorporated into product requirements, variants, and roadmap decisions
- Coordinate cross-functional efforts and act as liaison for regulatory & compliance requirements, ensuring they are translated into product design at the right time
- Partner with deployment, service, and installer teams on UX/UI improvements, commissioning flows, and real-world friction reduction
- Provide technical leadership on tradeoffs (cost, customization, scalability) and maintain hardware roadmaps aligned with NPI/compliance timelines
- Help engineering teams prioritizing and triaging factory NPI asks and maintain hardware quality and product experience during sustaining phases
- Work with engineering to deliver scalable solutions that meet current needs and future growth scenarios
What You'll Bring
- 5+ years in product management for hardware products, with proven ability to prioritize, transition ideas to engineering, and move initiatives from roadmap to impact
- Experience in hardware development for connected devices, including firmware/software integration
- Preferred: experience in EV charging hardware, familiarity with compliance standards (UL, IEC, regional regulations), and deployment workflows
- Strong technical acumen to evaluate reliability, performance, and ease of install in hardware solutions
- Excellent communication/documentation skills and ability to manage parallel projects across teams
- Deep passion for sustainable energy and scaling EV charging infrastructure
- Degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or technical discipline, or equivalent experience; hardware product management experience required

Expected Compensation
$112,000 - $204,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
