We seek applicants with a demonstrated record of excellence in epidemiologic research whose scholarship will complement and enhance the Division of Epidemiology's research and training mission. Applicants whose work aligns with the Division's established strengths, including chronic disease epidemiology, infectious diseases, social and environmental epidemiology, methods innovation, and global health, are especially encouraged to apply; however, exceptional candidates conducting innovative, methodologically rigorous research in any area of epidemiology will receive full consideration. Successful applicants will demonstrate strong competence in epidemiologic and biostatistical methods, as evidenced by formal training and/or a peer-reviewed publication record, and a commitment to high-quality instruction. The successful candidate will play a central instructional role in the School's Online Master of Public Health Program, with teaching responsibilities focused on core epidemiologic methods and biostatistics offerings, including high-demand undergraduate courses. The position may also include opportunities to teach intensive summer offerings for residential undergraduate and graduate students. The appointment carries a full-time teaching and service load equivalent to 100% FTE (9-month academic-year salary), with the expectation that at least 25% of the salary will be supported through externally funded research. Additional service responsibilities will include participation in MPH admissions committees, mentoring OOMPH and residential MPH students on their capstone projects, and contributing to other divisional and schoolwide service needs. The Division of Epidemiology is widely recognized as one of the leading research and training programs in epidemiology and population health in the United States. Our faculty conduct cutting-edge work across a broad spectrum of domains, including chronic disease epidemiology, infectious diseases, social and environmental epidemiology, methods innovation, and global health, advancing scientific understanding and public health practice locally, nationally, and globally. The Division provides a vibrant intellectual home and is deeply committed to developing the next generation of public health leaders. Adjunct faculty in the Division of Epidemiology engage with a highly collaborative, interdisciplinary environment that spans the School of Public Health and the broader UC Berkeley campus, as well as regional partners within the greater Bay Area's academic, governmental, and community health ecosystems. Faculty benefit from strong connections with UC San Francisco, state and local health departments, and community-based organizations, creating unique opportunities for integrating teaching, research, practice, and student mentorship. To support faculty success, the selected candidate will be paired with a senior faculty mentor through the School's Faculty Mentoring Program and will have access to extensive professional development resources, peer support networks, and opportunities for leadership within the Division and School. The School of Public Health is committed to fostering an inclusive, collaborative environment where adjunct faculty are supported in advancing high-quality teaching, impactful scholarship, and meaningful service.
