Job Title: Engineering Technician 1 Location(s): Charlotte, NC Position Overview This is a contract position providing Materials Laboratory Technician support for the testing and evaluation of components and materials used in turbine generator applications. The role requires direct, hands-on involvement in multiple laboratory testing processes, including preparation of test samples and operation of a variety of laboratory and test equipment to execute established testing protocols for materials used in electrical generators. The work environment is an industrial laboratory setting. How You'll Make an Impact
- Deliver hands-on support for laboratory testing and analysis of materials and components used in rotating electrical generators. This will require hands-on work to for sample preparation, test equipment operation, etc.
- Record and communicate test results, observations, and insights to Materials Engineering team.
- Collaborate with Materials Engineering team to support ongoing engineering projects.
What You Bring
- Associate's degree (or higher) in Engineering technology with a focus on electrical, mechanical, or materials engineering, Chemistry, Applied Physics, or closely related discipline with a strong focus on materials.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment is preferred; candidates with more experience may be considered for advanced roles and vice versa.
- Demonstrated interest in materials applications for power generation equipment, particularly rotating electric machinery (generators or motors).
- Ability to work independently and work together with the laboratory team.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency and expertise in hand-skills, hand-tools.
- Proficiency in computer use including MS-Office applications.
- Flexibility to work overtime or off-shift hours to support critical projects in both office and factory settings.
- Fork-truck and crane operation experience and proficiency are also beneficial.
