This position is responsible for learning to operate and maintain straight truck or tractor-trailer equipment. We will train you to operate a commercial vehicle to transport construction materials to a designated location in a timely manner. A successfully graduated trainee will be eligible to join the Teamsters 346 (Construction) or Local 49 union (if Ready Mix).

This is a seasonal position, once training is complete, that will generally require travel through Northern Minnesota and North Dakota with other work locations as assigned Lodging assistance (generally in the form of a per diem) is provided

Minimum Qualifications:
A successful Construction Driver for Knife River will have:

* A high school diploma, GED, or equivalent critical thinking skills
* A valid Commercial Driver's Permit with acceptable driving record (Don't have a permit? We can give you some resources to get started!)
* Ability to obtain a Department of Transportation physical and CDL
* Ability to pass a Department of Transportation drug/alcohol screen and remain substance free

This position requires travel throughout Northern MN and North Dakota. Most drivers will stay overnight on-location during the season.

Compensation

Training Wage: $19.50 Per Hour, Part Time

Once Graduated with CDL: Teamsters Union Scale Base Rates Starting at $28.95 Per Hour, Full Time Seasonal, for a CDL A Regular Tractor/Trailer. Additional wages may apply for Fringe/Prevailing Rates.
