Overview

Background Information:

This full-time, hybrid onsite/telework position supports the Range Display Systems (RDS) team at the Atlantic Test Range (ATR) in Patuxent River, Maryland. ATR is the U.S. Navy's East Coast open air test range and provides real-time test and evaluation (T&E) services including data acquisition to DoD and commercial customers for aircraft and weapons system testing and fleet training exercises. The selected candidate will work in a rewarding technical environment at the forefront of naval T&E supporting the needs of today's warfighter and beyond!

Duties & Responsibilities:

    Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) for assigned projects
  • Support real-time flight test operations
  • Work with teams of computer engineers and scientists to create software programs to process Time Space Positions Information (TSPI) data from various instrumentation to present to flight test engineers
  • Design, develop, test, and document software solutions
  • Collaborate effectively with team members, software users, and stakeholders to ensure project success
  • Conduct independent research to resolve complex technical issues
  • Work effectively in both individual and team environments
  • Utilize debugging tools and techniques within Windows and Linux development environments to identify and resolve software defects
  • Maintain proficiency and adapt quickly to new technologies

Required Education, Experience, Skills, & Certifications/Licenses:

  • BS degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or Engineering from a school where the degree curriculum was accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET)
  • Experience with multiple coding languages including but not limited to Linux/Unix, C/C++/C#, Java, Python, Assembly (Desired)
  • Experience using Git version control (Desired)
  • Ability to work well with a team of software engineers and other subject matter specialists.
  • Able to work within a large existing code base
  • Experience with Visual Studio (Desired)
  • Ability to work with customers to identify requirements (Desired)
  • Should have familiarity with SQL databases and Windows development environments (Visual Studio, etc.)
  • Must have general computer maintenance skills (hardware/software installation and troubleshooting)
  • .NET framework skills (Desired)
  • Occasional off-hours mission support required

Clearance Requirement:

  • Currently hold or be able to obtain and maintain the proper US DoD issued security clearance, which requires US Citizenship. Security clearance eligibility may be discussed during the interview phase.
  • Employment and start date is contingent upon the candidate receiving the required US DoD issued interim security clearance

Work Conditions:

  • Travel and/or overtime as needed may be required
  • Most work performed in enclosed buildings. Work will include sitting, standing, walking, lifting and reaching
  • Vision abilities needed to perform this job include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust and focus
