Intern Position Summary


The Business Process Analysis Intern will work with the Program Management Office. The Program Management Office manages a portfolio of programs with enterprise-wide impact. The team collaborates with senior leaders across the organization to develop a business case to clarify the desired outcome, identify investment needs and potential returns, and determine an implementation strategy when complex business requirements with enterprise impact are identified. Once an enterprise business case is authorized for execution, the Program Management Office establishes governance for program oversight and guides delivery teams through the implementation by applying project management best practice for project monitoring and reporting, performance measurement, and risk management.



Essential Functions



  • Complete assignments that support the development of plans and recommendations for business process changes and transformation resulting in improved business performance.
  • Support the identification, development, review, and analysis of the means to measure expected results if recommended changes are implemented.
  • Assist in preparing, writing, and editing presentations, functional specifications, process or data flow diagrams, and analytical reports for leadership review of recommendations and risks.


  • Develop an overall understanding of how to intersect business analysis, financial analysis, and project management competencies to support the organization's business strategies.



Education and Experience



  • Rising senior currently pursuing a degree in a technical field (such as Science or Engineering, Applied Mathematics, etc.) or with coursework demonstrating quantitative reasoning skills.
  • Experience with project delivery, preferably for software development or for business / organizational improvement, through a school project, internship, or prior employment.
  • Experience with Microsoft products and programs (MS Office).



Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities



  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong ability to demonstrate quantitative reasoning, critical thinking, and logic skills.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Knowledge of business concepts (such as micro-economics, financial management, or accounting) is helpful but not required.



Requirements



  • Due to the nature of CSBS's business in support of state financial services supervision, all CSBS employees have the potential of interacting with confidential information related to the supervision of financial services companies ("Confidential Supervisory Information"). As a result, in addition to general business conflicts of interest, all CSBS employees are expected to disclose conflicts of interest in financial services companies on at least an annual basis and to proactively avoid such conflicts.
  • Protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of CSBS information and information systems in accordance with CSBS policies and procedures.
  • Candidate must be in the DC area and able to work in the CSBS office as needed.
