DESCRIPTION

The Senior Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) performs a wide variety of patient care activities in support of clinic operations within a fast-paced, high-volume environment. Responsibilities include prioritizing and assisting in patient triage, preparing and assisting with patient examinations and procedures, administering medications, performing wound care, drawing blood, collecting and preparing laboratory specimens, and initiating venipuncture and IV access. The LVN also provides patient education and ensures adherence to quality and safety standards. This position requires strong clinical judgment, the ability to prioritize critical demands, and effective teamwork in a dynamic care setting. Performs other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) - issued by the state of California.

  • BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.

  • Two (2) years LVN experience in a similar role and setting.

  • Knowledge of universal precautions and proper use of body mechanics.

  • Must possess the skills, knowledge, and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.

  • Ability to take initiative, prioritize critical demands, exercise independent judgement and work in a team environment.

  • Proficient and comfortable with electronic charting, including documentation within electronic health record (EHR) systems.

  • Skilled in accurately taking and recording vital signs, height and weight; administering medication including injections; interviewing patients; and collecting specimens.

  • Knowledge of the normal range of values for vital signs, emergency procedures, and of basic lab and infection control procedures; standard items used to stock exam rooms.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the patient flow process in order to efficiently monitor appointments, patients and available physicians.

  • General knowledge of pharmaceuticals and able to process PARs.

  • Proven ability to serve as a resource and effectively lead and mentor teams. Ability to take initiative, prioritize demands and work in a team environment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Certification in Intravenous Therapy issued by the state of California (LVN IV).

  • Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT).

  • ACLS and/or ART.

  • Express Care or Urgent Care experience.

  • Point of Care testing experience.

  • Ambulatory experience.

  • Procedure experience.

  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to and thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume clinical setting.

  • Wound care/suture removal/dressing skills.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
  • Must have availability to work a variable schedule, including on-call, weekends, and some holidays.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $74,980 - $93,229 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $35.91 - $44.65

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
