Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our 1st Acute Med/Surg team on a full-time basis (36 hours). This position involves rotational shifts including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. The ideal candidate will hold a valid NYS RN Licensure and possess BLS and ACLS certifications.


Responsibilities

  • Apply nursing knowledge, theory, and technical skills to deliver high-quality, compassionate care to patients and families.
  • Assess patient needs and develop a personalized plan of care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
  • Provide direct patient care, evaluate progress, and coordinate care delivery throughout the patient's episode.
  • Develop specialized skills in cardiac care, including telemetry monitoring.
  • Educate patients and families on self-care post-hospitalization, promoting lifestyle changes to support health and healing.
  • Promote comfort and provide emotional support in a healing environment.
  • Evaluate and adjust care plans based on patient response and changing conditions.
  • Advocate for and protect the health, safety, and rights of patients.
  • Engage in quality improvement activities to enhance nursing practice and care delivery.
  • Motivate and educate patients and families for continued care and healing at home.
  • Encourage teamwork, mutual trust, and cooperation among team members.
  • Comply with infection prevention strategies and maintain required competencies.
  • Report potential safety risks and promote leadership awareness to foster positive change.
  • Conduct rounds per protocol and use tools to keep patients and families informed and safe.


Qualifications

  • Valid NYS RN Licensure.
  • BLS and ACLS certifications.
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in a Med/Surg environment as a Registered Nurse.


Skills

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to assess patient/family needs and develop individualized care plans.
  • Proficient in using logic and reasoning to identify solutions to problems.
  • Skilled in nursing interventions, including medication administration.
  • Ability to educate and engage patients and families effectively.
