SSAI seeks a Programmer Analyst II to support an Earth Science contract at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. The candidate will provide software development, data processing, and operations support for the PACE Science Data.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Develop and maintain end-to-end data processing from, including ocean color, aerosol, cloud, and polarimetry retrievals; integrate, test, and deliver algorithms to operational systems.
  • Manage ancillary data sources and QC; operate matchup systems for satellite-in situ validation; develop analysis and visualization tools and conduct validation studies.
  • Enforce software testing and configuration management.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in computer science, systems engineering, physics, atmospheric science or related field and 5+ years' experience programming. Or, the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in satellite remote sensing and scientific software development (C, C++, Fortran, Python).
  • Experience with software configuration management (Git or SVN).
  • Experience in data system operations and databases
  • Demonstrated experience developing algorithms and software for retrievals of ocean color, aerosol, and cloud products.
  • Knowledge of radiative transfer theory
  • Ability to integrate and test code and deliver executable products to operational processing systems.

Desired Qualifications

  • Prior experience with PACE mission instruments (OCI, HARP2, SPEXone) or similar hyperspectral and polarimetric instruments.
  • Experience developing Level1C coregistration and multiinstrument fusion algorithms.
  • Experience with automated validation/matchup systems and visualization tools.
  • Strong documentation, presentation, and collaboration skills to interact with staff and external collaborators.

The employee frequently is required to talk and hear and occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus
