Payroll ManagerOverviewOur client is a well-established and growing organization within the engineering industry, known for its commitment to operational excellence and for investing in its people through outstanding benefits and a supportive workplace culture. They are seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to lead payroll operations while partnering closely with HR and project teams to ensure accuracy, compliance, and exceptional employee service.This role is ideal for a payroll professional who values being part of an organization that truly gives back to its employees.Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee end-to-end payroll processing for a diverse workforce, including field and office employees.
  • Ensure accurate calculation of wages, overtime, and deductions in compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws, including prevailing wage and Davis-Bacon requirements.
  • Prepare, review, and submit certified payroll reports in support of public and government-funded projects.
  • Manage union payroll reporting, benefits, and deductions in accordance with collective bargaining agreements.
  • Oversee timekeeping processes and systems to validate hours worked, job locations, and labor classifications for field personnel.
  • Accurately allocate labor costs to projects and job codes to support job costing, financial reporting, and project management initiatives.
  • Partner with accounting and project teams to resolve discrepancies and support audits and financial close processes.
HR & Employee Support
  • Support onboarding and offboarding activities, including payroll setup, final pay processing, and required documentation.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for employee questions related to payroll, benefits, and basic HR policies, providing timely and professional support.
  • Assist with workers' compensation audits, unemployment claims, and related compliance activities.
  • Maintain accurate payroll and employee records, ensuring audit readiness and adherence to internal controls.

  • the individual's skill sets, experience and training;
