Position Summary

Overall responsibility for assigned production processes, producing a quality product, meeting production deadlines and managing assigned manufacturing employees. This position is expected to help set the vision and execute strategic plans and direction, lead change efforts, and motivate teams to achieve established goals. Responsible for managing assigned budget. Manage capital equipment projects and identify capital equipment needs for area.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

* Lead overall responsibility for assigned production operations, ensuring high-quality output, on-time delivery, and efficient use of labor and resources.

* Set operational vision and execute strategic plans to support business goals, drive change initiatives, and foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

* Manage day-to-day production activities, monitoring processes, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring adherence to quality, safety, and regulatory standards.

* Lead, coach, and develop production teams through effective training, performance management, and employee engagement.

* Plan and allocate manpower requirements to optimize productivity while meeting production schedules and cost targets.

* Drive productivity improvements, waste reduction, and efficiency gains through Lean manufacturing principles and process optimization.

* Partner with Quality to ensure product standards are met, addressing root causes of scrap, rework, and nonconformances.

* Identify improvement opportunities, implement corrective and preventive actions, and monitor results to sustain gains.

* Ensure a safe work environment by enforcing safety protocols, eliminating hazardous conditions, and maintaining compliance with government regulations.

* Manage departmental budgets, inventory control, and cost control.

* Collaborate on capital projects, including identifying needs, justifying investments, and overseeing implementation.

* Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Purchasing, Scheduling, Engineering, and Quality to meet production demands and business objectives.

* Ensure effective communication across departments and that company directives, policies, and procedures are consistently followed.

* Provide adequate supervision during all production hours to ensure operational continuity and compliance.

* Support manufacturing process improvements by addressing tooling, drawing interpretation, and process challenges.

* Perform additional duties as required to support plant operations.

Education and Experience

* Extensive experience in high-volume, low- to medium-mix manufacturing environments, with hands-on exposure to one or more of the following processes: fabrication, welding, grinding, powder coating, and assembly.

* 10+ years of manufacturing experience, including 5+ years in supervisory or leadership roles within a production environment.

* Bachelor's degree required; B.S. or B.A. in Engineering, Science, or Business preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

* Strong communicator with the ability to effectively engage and collaborate with all levels of the organization.

* Demonstrated ability to lead teams in dynamic, fast-paced environments while driving improvements in safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance.

* In-depth knowledge of manufacturing principles, including metal processing, powder coating, and assembly operations.

* Proven leadership and supervisory skills, with the ability to motivate teams, build engagement, and manage personnel matters fairly and consistently.

* Highly organized with strong multitasking abilities and attention to detail, capable of managing competing priorities effectively.

* Excellent problem-solving, conflict resolution, and interpersonal skills.

* Effective written and verbal communication skills, including cross-functional and shop-floor communication.

* Working knowledge of ISO 9000 requirements and quality management systems.

* Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.

* Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, with experience using ERP systems for production, costing, inventory control, and purchasing (Epicor preferred).
