Executive Service HUMAN RESOURCES DIRECTOR Administrative Office of the Courts Nashville, TN Starting annual salary: $170,000 - $175,000 Closing Date: 02/03/2026 This position is designated as hybrid.Who we are and what we do: The Tennessee Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC) serves as a trusted resource to assist in improving the administration of justice and promoting condence in the judiciary. It is the administrative arm of the States judicial branch, one of the three fundamental divisions of Tennessee state government. The judicial branch provides an essential check on the legislative and executive branches through judicial review. The AOC supports the Tennessee Supreme Court, intermediate appellate courts, trial courts, and courts of limited jurisdiction by managing programs, resources, and operations that enable the courts to function efficiently. Job Overview: The Human Resources Director is a strategic leader and member of the AOCs Executive Leadership Team, responsible for shaping and executing HR initiatives that align with the AOCs mission, vision, and values. This role requires a data-driven, innovative, and collaborative professional who can leverage analytics to inform goals and operational outcomes. The HR Director will supervise a team of HR professionals and serve as a visible resource for stakeholders across the state including judges and court personnel ensuring they recognize the value and accessibility of HR leadership. This position is ideal for someone who is eager to build a long-term, modern HR function that is flexible, innovative, and responsive to todays workforce needs. Key Responsibilities: Strategic HR Leadership: Develop and implement HR strategies that align with judicial branch priorities and organizational goals. Employee Engagement & Surveys: Design and administer online employee surveys with strategic questions to gather actionable insights that help the Executive Leadership Team maximize operations. Manage employee relations matters: Conduct investigations, administer corrective actions, and ensure fair and consistent application of policies to maintain a positive and compliant workplace. Data Analysis & Reporting: Analyze HR data and present findings to leadership in clear, laymans terms to inform decisions and drive measurable outcomes. Talent Management: Oversee recruitment, onboarding, retention, and succession planning to ensure a high-performing workforce. Risk management: Identify and mitigate HR related risks. Stakeholder Communication: Maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, including judges across the state, ensuring HR remains visible and accessible. Workforce planning and forecasting: Anticipate future staffing needs and align talent strategies with organizational goals. Compliance & Policy: Ensure adherence to state and federal employment laws, regulations, and internal policies. Performance Management: Lead the development and administration of performance evaluation systems that drive accountability and growth. Superior Communication: Serve as a polished, professional communicator capable of influencing and collaborating at all levels of the organization. Executive Collaboration: Act as a trusted advisor to the Executive Leadership Team on HR-related matters. Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in a relevant course of study and a minimum of five years of experience of human resources work. In lieu of a bachelors degree, a minimum of 10 years of human resources experience with the ability to demonstrate increasing levels of responsibility and management experience.
